1. A morphological study was carried on testes of four goats which had been affected with lumbar paresis (cerebrospinal filariasis) in their history. When autopsied, the macroscopic changes were observed rather likely normal in the testes of three goats, except possible few slight changes in weight, size, and color. However, in one case a deposition of crystalline material was found macroscopically. In the histological examination four goats had seminiferous tubules ranging from 184μ it to 219μ it in diameter. The crystalline material was proved to be calcium and the deposited area was found to be a seminiferous tubule itself.
2. Spermatogenic destruction was commonly observed in four cases though a degree of degeneration seemed to be variable from area to area even in one case. Beside the exfoliation of germ cells, karyolytic and multinucleate spermatids were frequently observed and binucleate spermatocytes were also encountered. Many tubules which lost the germinal epithelium completely were found.
3. An increased quantity of lipid material was found in many seminiferous tubules especially in those containing cell debris. The lipid in Sertoli cell seemed to be also increased than the normal. The interstitial tissue was found to be little changed from the normal. Those changes enumerated are fibrosis of connective tissue and an increase of lipid material.
4. Whether the destruction of spermatogenesis described here should be regarded as sequelae originating from the lumbar paresis (cerebrospinal filariasis) or the sequence of the side effects originating from piperazine-derivative and/or antimony agent which had been administered for treatment is not clarified.
