In order to solve today’s complex issues in the field of health, medical and welfare, collaboration among professionals is very important. However, it is also a fact that cooperation are difficult at the actual site due to the specialization becoming a wall. Therefore, first, I reorganize the necessity of Interprofessional Work (IPW) and the viewpoints and abilities required for proceeding it. Based on that, I would like to convey the essence of the development of education for cultivating IPW practitioners, that is, Interprofessional Education (IPE). Saitama Prefectural University, which established in 1999, has been aiming for collaboration and integration of health, medical and welfare since the beginning, and has accumulated various educational practices to develop the current IPE. The commitment in the meantime is “community based practice”. Direct learning in the field that transcends specialized fields, represented by the compulsory IPW practice, which is neither on the desk nor on paper. I hope that this paper will be an opportunity to think and discuss with the members of the Japanese Society of Community Psychology the characteristics of our university’s IPE, which has been cultivated through the process of collaboration with local stakeholders, service users and residents.
