The recent investment boom in Thailand has aggravated a prolonged shortage of S & T manpower in the country. It is estimated that whereas the country's higher education system is capable of turning out about 2.7 thousands university graduates, the minimum demand has been well over 6, 000.
The paper will briefly describe this situation and the growing role of the continuing education system for technical man-power.
It will focus on a case of a non-profit organization, partly supported by the MITI and private sector in Japan, which has successfully helped in the training of thousands of technicians and engineers annualy in the last few years.
