Antibacterial silver inclusion silica glass made by the sol-gel method, silver ion injection filler using the ionimplantation and composite resin made of YDA filler which is a silver inorganic antibacterial agent, base cement and temporary cement are examined. When the oral cavity environment is considered, it seems to be useful to apply the inorganic material including the silver to other dental materials. Accordingly, YDA filler was applied in the mucosa adjustment material under the denture base. For the purpose of clinical application, the antibacterial tissue conditioner was examined, and a biological and physical evaluation was perforned. On the antibacterial test after 24 hours of S. Mutans and C. albicans, the antibacterial trial material T-con over 5wt% was recognized. There were similar results for E. faecalis. The adhesive rate of S. oralis tended to rise, as the YDA filler content increased. In the cytotoxic test, the cell proliferation rate tended to lower, as the YDA filler content increased. Also, the inflammatory cell could not be recognized in the mucosa-stimulative test in the cheek pouch of the hamster. A filler was remarkably observed on the surface, as the YDA filler content increased in ESEM of the trial material T-con surface. And, the existence of P, Al and Ag as YDA filler components was confirmed. The time-dependent weight variation in 0-10 wt%, no difference was observed recognized between the materials and a similar result was obtained in the rubber harness measurement test. On the time-dependent color change, the lightness of T-con tended to rise, as the YDA filler content increased. The change of the mucosa under the denture base is remarkable in old people with the systemic diseases, and the use of tissue conditioner is high. And, the crisis rate of aspiration pneumonia by C albicans has tended to rise recently. In this study, trial material T-con tended to be antibacterial for S. mutans, C. albicans and E. faecalis. As a result of biological and physical evaluation, a clinical application of trial material T-con of 5wt% was indicated. From the above results, as a tissue conditioner for old people, the use of the trial material T-con is regarded as being clinically useful.

Recently, the influences of oral micro-organisms on various systemic diseases have been clarified, suggesting the importance of oral care. In our previous study, we proposed a new classification with 9 categories of oral care needs for the elderly according to the degree of independence and the oral condition. In order to ensure safe and effective oral care of the dependent elderly even by carers or patients'family, we presented a new electrical oral brush with an automatic liquid supply/suction system (Dent. ERAC 910: LION DENTAL PRODUCTS). In addition, order-made oral care methods for each category were designed, and these methods were matched to the various categories. The effects of the care methods were microbiologically evaluated.
The purpose of this study was twofold: firstly to evaluate the effect of a newly developed electrical oral mucosa brush with automatic liquid supply/suction system, and secondly to evaluate a chemical and physical denture cleaning technique The purpose of the brush and the cleaning technique was to establish an effective oral care method for the edentate dependent elderly with dentures. The number of Candida, as a parameter of oral hygiene, detected from the tongue, alveolar crest and dentures decreased with cleaning during a period of 5 days, with a statistical difference by ANOVA, suggesting the importance of daily cleaning of oral mucosa and dentures.
