Snow disaster depends on heavy snowfall and large snowcover depth, and we are concerened on their different behaviours and the respective preventation required.
In the present paper, the time variation of snowcover depth is compared in Fukui prefecture by using a linear equation with respect to that at Fukui city, because that the atomospheric parameters are known in many kinds and in long period. Comparing the two constants in the equation at the beginning of snowfall and at the melting period of snowcover, the district somewhat similar behaviour are different in both cases. These results are usable for the snow disaster prevention.

This study was conducted on the removal of snow from suspended membrane structures.
This study was undertaken to develop an effective method of snow removal for a light space of membrane structure in regions subject to heavy snowfall.
We tested the snow-slip method in an area of heavy snowfall.
One of our tests involved the use of membrane pannels.
Another test used an arched model of suspended membrane structure.
Our test results are summarized below:
(1) Snow froze on membrane. When the temperature rose to nearly 0°C, the snow melted and slipped off.
(2) On the arched model of suspended membrane structure the snow did. not slip off easily even when snow on the roof melted sufficiently to slip off.
This was attribyted to two points.
(I) Good-balance between the right and left sides of the snow on the roof
(II) Power connecting each snowflake
This problem was solved by cutting the snow off at the top of the roof.

Road traffic during the snow season is influenced by weather conditions in the Tohoku District. Furthermore, traffic accidents frequently occur on roads due to snow and ice. However, it is difficult to get full information about relations between traffic accidents and weather conditions from existing statistical data.
In this paper, we collected articles of traffic accidents which were reported in local newspapers in the Tohoku District and data on weather conditions, and constructed the database on them. Moreover, we statistically analyzed the relations between the traffic accidents and weather conditions, and investigated the feature of the traffic accidents during the snow season in the Tohoku
District. The results are as follows:
(1) Traffic accidents which occurred on main arterial roads or were fatal, were reported in newspapers frequently.
(2) It was shown that half of the articles of the traffic accidents reported in newspapers happened under winter conditions.
(3) We showed that fatal accidents occurred on slippery roads conditions frequently.
