PURPOSE:We examined the usefulness of loop enterostomy with the aid of dripshaped skin incision,an operative mode which was devised in our department,in order
to provide:1)A minimal operative wound,2)in a relatively short time,3)more safely, and 4)easily.The subjects were patients who suffered disturbed intestinal passage due to various causes after abdominal surgery and thus required enterostomy.
METHODS:The skin at an interded site of enterostomy was circularly resected with the size of a 500 yen coin and an additional linear incision was made on its upper side. After exteriorization of the designated intestines,a stoma was created at the circularly resected site. The additionally-incised site on the upper side was closed in a buried suturing manner. In terms of operation time, difficulties in performing enterostomy and possible complications after operation, our enterostomy procedure was compared with the conventional approach having different sites for enterostomy and laparostomy.
RESULTS:The drip-shaped skin incision we devised was indicated to be a useful intervention as an operative mode for enterostomy by referring to the 4 items mentioned above.
