     The postoperative management of surgical wounds after day surgery is often performed by patients themselves until suture removal. However, it is typically considered troublesome by patients as they are not used to the procedure. In the present study, we examined the effect of Mepirex® Border Post-Op for postoperative surgical wound management. The dressing was applied to 21 patients who underwent day surgery, and the patients did not receive any additional treatment until suture removal at our hospital. At the time of suture removal, we assessed for postoperative complications such as skin damage around the wound, surgical site infection, bleeding, and wound dehiscence. We also interviewed the patients about their experience with Mepirex® Border Post-Op such as adhesiveness and general sensation when applying the dressing, itching of the skin, and pain associated with removal of the dressing. The dressing did not stay on in three patients due to poor adhesiveness and was replaced in one patient due to postoperative bleeding. The dressing stayed on until the day of suture removal in the remaining 17 patients. None of the patients had skin damage, surgical site infection, or wound dehiscence. The patients reported that the dressing had relatively good adhesiveness and general sensation, and none reported itching of the skin or pain during removal. Given its high absorbency and fluid retention properties, Mepirex® Border Post-Op is a safe and effective dressing material for postoperative wound management that would improve the quality of life of patients without causing any skin trouble.
