We considered that the determination method of phenols in drinking water by solid-phase extraction method using LC/MS/MS-ESI for the purpose of efficiency on analysis work in this study. As a result of the examination, it became possible to detect phenol, which could only be detected using APCI method so far, by ESI method using an aqueous solution of ammonium fluoride having a high basicity as the mobile phase. Therefore, the work efficiency of LC/MS/MS measurement of phenols in drinking water has been greatly improved. The calibration curves of each component of phenols, obtained from the results of the study, demonstrated good linearity in the range of 0.2-5.0μg/L of standard(2,4,6-TCD was 0.2-2.0μg/L). In addition, the repeatability (1.5-16 %), intermediate precision (1.5-19 %), and accuracy (99.1-105 %) values obtained via recovery tests for phenols and each component of phenols in drinking water (Add concentration:0.5 μg/L, n=5, 5 days) satisfied the criteria provided in the guideline for validation of testing methods for drinking water notified by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan.
