Elemental composition of water, aquatic bryophytes (Scapania undulata, Jungermannia vulcanicola, Leptodictyum riparium, Riccia fluitans, Rhynchostegium riparioides, Heteroscyphus argutus, Aneura pellioides), and aquatic vascular plants (Azolla japonica, Callitriche fallax, Potamogeton crispus, Potamogeton oxyphyllus, Hydrocotyle maritima) collected from the central part of Kyushu were analyzed by using Inductively Coupled Plasma for inorganic elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Sr, Mo, Cd, Pb). The great difference of the elmental compositions between aquatic bryophytes and aquatic vascular plants was observed for Na and Al. The contents of Na in aquatic vascular plants were in the range from 86mg/kg to 789mg/kg and that of aquatic vascular plants were in the range from 1300 to 12600mg/kg.
