Filamentous gemmae produced at the tips of chloronema cells emerging from both rhizoids from stem epidermal cells and leaf costa cells were newly reported from a single population of Scopelophila ligulata in Kyoto Prefecture, central Japan. They are composed of 4 to 5 cells including a slightly differentiated basal cell. In addition, protonemal regeneration was also observed both in S. ligulata and S. cataractae.
150 species of liverwort were recorded from approximately 860 specimens collected from Mt. Fuji, central Japan. Taxa of phytogeographic interest include Calypogeia fujisana, Anthelia juratzkana, Lophozia lacerata, Radula cavifolia, Neohattoria herzogii, and Calycularia laxa.
