The relationship between Calypogeia asakawana and C. nasuensis was taxonomicaly studied and C. nasuensis was proved to be synonymous with C. asakawana. The reproductive stage of this species was also described and discussed.

Skulls and otoliths (lapilli) of eleven ariid species (Genera Arius and Osteogeneiosus) from Malaysia (the South China Sea and the Straits of Malacca) were systematically described. In addition，one species from the waters of Taiwan and of Chushan archipelago (the East China Sea) was described to compare with the species from Malaysia.

230 species of mosses, 115 species of liverworts, and one species of hornwort were recorded on the basis of approximately 1800 specimens collected from the Hakone mountain area, western part of Kanagawa district. Taxa of phytogeographic interest include Andreaea rupestris var. fauriei, Campylopus flagilis, Coscinodon humilis, Glyphomitrium minutissimum, Entodon conchophyllus, Clastobryopsis robusta, Cehpaloziella divaricata, Schiffneria hyalina, Jungermania vulcanicola, Gymnomitrion noguchianum, and Calycularia crispula.

On the basis of approximately 900 specimens collected from this investigation, 241 species, 4 subspecies, 8 varieties were recognized from 42 families. Taxa of phytogeographical in terest include Diphyscium chiapense,Diphyscium kashimirense, Fissidens ganguleei, Ditrichum rhynchostegium, Seligeria donniana, Syrrhopodon kiiensis, Barbula horrinervis, Gymnostomum aurantiacum, Timmiella anomala, Dicradiella trichophora,Thamnobryum alopecum, Thamnobryum planifrons, Symphyodon perrottetii, Myurella sibirica, Clastobryopsis robusta, Gollania taxiphylloides, Hypnum calcicolum, and Platygyrium repens.

An investigation was conducted on bryophytes from the Hinata-gawa (river) and adjacent areas, east of Mt. Ohyama. Kanagawa, Japan, from April, 2002 to May, 2006. A total of 138 species of mosses, 55 species of liverworts, and 3 species of hornworts were recognized from approximately 580 specimens collected. Taxa of phytogeographic interest included Diphyscium kashimirense, Fissidens geppii, Cyathophorum hookerianum, Homaliadelphus targionianus, Duthiella speciosissima, and Frullania diversitexta.

Propagation of Japanese green pigeon, Sphenurus sieboldii was observed in the Forest of Tokyo Citizen, Hinohara, Tokyo, at altitudes between 1050 and 1200 m from 2003 to 2005. Its propagation was also confirmed in Akiruno, Tokyo, at altitudes between 400 and 500 m. They were found to inhabit these places even in winter. The pigeons in Hinohara fed on Taxillus kaempferi in July and the pigeons in Akiruno fed on Pyracantha angustifolia in February and Prunus ansu in March.
