    In this study we discuss multiple comparison procedures. Specifically, focusing on multiple comparison with a control we introduce the single step procedure and various types of multistep procedures. We discuss recent developments of multistep procedures.

    To confirm the control performance of the series-connected master slave system when applied to the proportional control and PID control by performing basic experiments. It was confirmed that can improve the steady-state error that occurs at the time of positioning and delay caused by the moment of inertia in the case of adapting the proportional control by using the PID control in the proposed system.

    In the field of education engineering, the importance of learning videos is spreading more and more. Because we can deliver digital educational contents through the Internet, user can watch videos without being tied to their places. Therefore, user can watch videos on demand and they can learn from the videos at any time. On the other hand, it is not able to judge whether user are really watching videos. Thus, we developed an analysis tool for user's video watching behavior. The behavior analysis tool can record 5 statuses as "play", "pause", "ended", "fast-forward" and "rewind". It would be able to analyze detail behavior of users whether they are proper or not. We carried out performance test of our developed system using a 720p video and also checked correctness of the log-visualizing function of the system. We expect that these behavior analysis data will be useful when we make more new videos of any lessons.

    In general, lectures and exercises between teaching staff and students are carried out in face-to-face in classrooms of schools. First, usually students take notes what teaching staff explains in each lectures. Next they will try to understand their lecture using their written notes. However, just only a few of students will question in classrooms. Discussion between teaching staff and students is mostly not active in the classroom because Japanese students are mostly shy. In this study, we are developing a system for course analysis using online notes and focus points of students. In this article, we propose the visualizing method and describe our system features and plans for implementation function.

    This paper attempts to apply biofeedback to several types of puzzle games, to enhance players’engagement level and behavior during the gameplay. In the research, we carried out a four times experiment on five college students. Results showed that the feedback based on brainwaves could enhance players’engagement in Sudoku puzzle games, but not effective in physics puzzle games. We thought that biometric information of players in irrelevant stages (e.g. game loading, waiting) would produce a negative influence on results, so we suggested excluding it from the feedback to players. Besides, giving the false but positive feedback information instead of the real one to players can make them feel good, but the decline of engagement level will be restored to the former condition without feedback. It means that in the process of biofeedback, the real feedback information not being provided continuously will not influence player’s subjective experience, while the effect of feedback cannot be maintained.

    In this paper, supposing that the flow is a kind of multiphase flow composed of liquid (fluid) and activated platelet, the surface tension and adhesion force to the wall were taken into account in the modified LBM (Lattice Boltzmann Method). From the results, it was found that there were thrombus formation near the reattachment point and behind the step for the backward facing step flows, and it corresponds to our previous observation results of thrombus formation. After these computations for all case of geometries on blood flow, effects of threshold value of parameters such as shear rate, adhesion force were discussed and evaluated. And it was also found that the predicted thrombus area on the wall agrees with that in our previous experiments of thrombus observation.

    Fuzzy information such as human relation is effectively represented as fuzzy graph. However, it is difficult to clarify the global structure of the fuzzy graph. As to this problem, Yamashita [3] and others developed its approximation method which could significantly clarify the characteristics of the fuzzy graph. Anotherremaining challenge is its sequence analysis among nodes of the fuzzy graph. As to this problem, we have proposed a new index “fuzzy core index”[5] [6] . According to this index, we could sequence the nodes of the fuzzy graph. In this paper , we firstly overview the approximate analysis, and secondly present our index for sequence analysis. Finally, we discuss the relationship between AHP method and characteristic analysis of fuzzy graph concerning the core index.

    At universities, mathematics lectures have to change their teaching materials and methods according to students’ mathematical skills, and also have to make them understand mathematics. In our former paper [1], we introduced the analysis of students’ needs in some undergraduate mathematics lectures by using fuzzy reasoning with the Kano model. In this paper, we shall show three case studies and propose our reliable method of needs analysis of students.

    We investigate daily share prices of the Nikkei 225 stock index to identify jump times of the stock index using a jump-diffusion model which consists of the Black-Scholes model with a stochastic volatility and a compound Poisson process. Since the data of daily share prices of the Nikkei 225 stock index are observed at discrete times, it is difficult to find real jump-times from the data. In this paper we consider how to separate jump-times from the observed times. The volatility of the stock index is estimated by the historical volatility from the observation of some daily share prices. We also refer to the number of daily share prices for the historical volatility and show that the number is essential for the accuracy of the identification of jump times.

    Face the aging society, the elderly living alone has increased. In the future of an aging society, it is important that the elderly to maintain the initiative in activities. And, it is necessary to technology that supports it. It is a dementia in one of the aging society problem. The elderly with a forgetfulness, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild dementia has been shown to perform behavioral that independence by information support. Therefore, we developed a life support system using information support robot. Additionally, it is shown when it is necessary to change the communication method by the difference in cognitive function level. In this report, we develop the introduction method of the information support robot for the elderly with a forgetfulness, MCI and mild dementia, and were conducted introduction experiment of information support robot to the elderly. As the result, it was confirmed that information is transmitted to the accurate to the elderly. However, the decision of cognitive function level is required expertise. For this reason, it has been shown that we require consideration of method that everyone can be a decision easily.

    A non-directional four-wheeled mobile robot that doesn’t have the concept of orientation and falling down has being developed in our laboratory. The junction between foreside and rearward of the robot can bend, so this robot has broad range of movement as compared with normal four-wheel vehicle. In our previous research, the junction between foreside and rearward of the robot is assumed to be fixed, and a control approach was developed on the basis of a dynamic model that doesn’t consider the bending of the junction. When this robot has the possibility of bending, this control approach doesn’t obtain the same effect. In this research, a new dynamic model considering the bending of the junction is derived and a new control approach which corresponds the possibility of bending is developed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed controller was verified by experiment.

    In our study group, it was thought to lead to effective prevention of low back pain if it is possible to estimate the intervertebral disc load in various postures. Therefore, the vertebral end from the presence closer to the body surface to estimate the change in the gap between the vertebrae from the motion of the vertebrae, has been considered to be evaluated disc load through the gap change. Previous studies, lumbar portion is approximated by a cubic function, the resulting prospect that can perform load estimation in static attitude by curve fitting. In the present study, we examined the effectiveness of the proposed method of in position during operation. This time, performs a load estimate of the change in the attitude of the and sneezing behavior from a good attitude to stoop, even posture during the operation the resulting load can be estimated outlook in the proposed method.

    To be “The times of the community –based welfare”, and it is a long time, but the argument that what kind of requirements can be established based on in what remains vague with the community-based welfare. It is spiritually rich, and, for community-based welfare in the future, it is demanded from anyone of inhabitants from a child to an elderly person in the areas that lived so long that I make structure to be able to live for in peace. In this report, I show the figure of the community-based welfare plan of relationships first. Then, I speak the need of the community-based welfare. And I speak the importance of the role of the community-based welfare of the joint stand which I felt to be from the inspection of the joint stand of Okinawa.

    Recently, AI technology called deep learning has been attracting attention. Deep learning is a kind of neural network. It is a method of machine learning using a hierarchical neural network with a multi-layer structure. Deep learning has shown great results in pattern recognition. In this study, we consider the classification of unearthed coins using deep learning. There are many types of unearthed coins to be excavated from a ruin. However, the classification of unearthed coins is even difficult task for numismatics experts. The objective of this research is to conduct basic studies into the classification of unearthed coins by deep learning.

    Knee implantation is a popular knee surgery to replace damaged knee joint in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). It is very essential to predict post-operative knee kinematic before surgery for successful surgical planning. However, the key factor is that outcome of TKA operation strongly depends on types of prosthesis and surgical methods, and also differs from subject to subject. It is well known, patient-specific knee implant and surgical method increases operation quality. Thus, the requirement of analyzing pre-operative knee kinematic for predicting post-operative knee function for patient-specific TKA surgical planning. This study aids the medical surgeon is this regard. The proposed method was constructed in 45 clinical knee data using machine learning technique, and also verified by leave-one-out-cross validation (LOOCV) test. This study mainly focuses on model performance with and without feature extraction method. Results show that first one outperforms over no-PCA based with mean correlation coefficient of 0.68, and root mean squared error of 5.84 mm.

    If the analysis of immune cells, cut into the pictures for each frame from images captured tissue. It may take a technique of confirming that one by one, using visual observation. However, it takes a lot of time and effort, when performing analysis of the images with the naked eye. The problem is that it is not possible to analyze a plurality images at one time. For this issue, using a computer tool can solve to assist the image analysis tool used. The most computing system is not implemented features, which are an analyzed process of purposes. Compensate for the missing function in other analysis tools, or may become wasteful because a human would do those real work. Therefore, it is necessary to create a tool that meets the requirements of the study, when performing image analysis of cells efficiently. In this study, we have tried a prototype of image analysis tool that implements the requested function. In this paper, we discuss these tools.

    In the analysis of the eye fundus image, a vessel extraction technique is very important. In this study, we propose a vessel extraction method using convolutional neural networks (CNN). This method is based on the idea of using trained filter kernels for detection of vessels. In the experiments, the proposed method is evaluated on the DRIVE database images with the available ground truth in terms of specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy. The proposed method has given a high performance compared with the conventional methods.

    The evaluation of retinal blood vessel diameter is associated with the diagnosis of diabetes, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, stroke, etc. A retinal arteriovenous ratio (AVR) is used for diagnosis of hypertension and arteriosclerosis. We propose a tracking method of the boundary of the retinal blood vessel on eye fundus image with low visibility, and then an automatic evaluation of AVR. In this study, the effectiveness of the proposed method has been proved through the experiments for the actual retinal images of cataract patients.

    Typically large lectures cause serious problems, including the difficulty of measuring students’understanding, and their hesitancy to ask questions. To make better students’ learning efficiency and the utility of lecture-style teaching, we previously proposed a lecture and learning support system that uses students’operation log and runs on a web browser. To use this system, a teacher will be made aware of student responses by the real-time statistical processing and analysis of data, such as student page-turning and marking of terms, and can use this information to improve the lecture, and will be able to grasp the appropriateness progress degree of the class and the intensive degree of the students. The student can notify the teacher of a question or opinion with a simple operation such as click-and-drag. We used a prototype of the system in a trial lesson with a small number of students, and observed that Questionnaire results show that students are easily to ask questions and to declare their intentions. An experimental lesson with a large number of students is necessary for future work.

    Meridian points originate from Chinese tradition medicine, and that usage were systematized by accumulation of the empirical medical treatment. Meridian points are used both as examination points and treatment points by the acupuncture and massage. And therefore the reaction of the Meridian points can estimate the diagnosis of the disease pattern. This paper discusses the reaction of the meridian points. We present the case studies: The temperature sense of the meridian points in the Cold constitution person, the Hardness of the meridian points in the fullness in the chest and hypochondrium. In addition, we discuss the diagnosis system using the reaction of the meridian points.

    We propose .a new index to define the reliability of retest. According to the traditional method, the reliability coefficient of retest is a correlation factor r between the same tests measured in two time points. We show that the correlation factor r is not appropriate index to show the stability of the two tests. Instead we propose a new index to show a coincide of two tests N. In order to make clear the usefulness of the new index N, we compare the two indexes taking the example of real questionnaire performed by the authors. We show the correlation factor r is nearly zero although the coincidence index N is not small. We conclude that the proposed coincident index N should be used for the reliability of the retest, instead of the traditional correlation factor r.

    We analyze the full marathon records of all over Japan for this 12 years. The data has various interesting points; One is that the fastest generation is around 30 to 35. It seems that the younger generation is fast, however, running on the long distance is another matter. The second is that the time is going down gradually around till 65. It suggests that the physical power is still active in such an old age. And the third point is that the time is going down sharply. This is the time of the 100th. order. We fit well the time with 2nd plus exponential functions. The fitting shows that the times till 65 in the 100th order behave like 2nd curve, however, the time over 65 has a component of the exponential dumping. That is an important feature in 100th order, while it is different from the times of the 1st order.

    In the low birthrate and aging society, various warfare robots have been developed. To conduct the care support, the warfare robot needs to contact with the care recipient. The robot may give pain to care recipient due to the force of the assist action is too much. If we can recognize the sense of care recipient, the care support can be conducted without pain. Therefore, in this study, the brain activity is measured by NIRS while subject is feeling the pain. We develop an excretion method about the pain’s sign by analyzing the data measured by NIRS. In detailed, The brain activity of subject was measured, while his legs were exerted a variable pressure. A method to recognize the preceding state of the pain feeling is developed by analyzing the measured data.
