    One highly pure θ-Al2O3 powder (APA-0.2) with large surface area, but with partial agglomeration, was colloidally processed to prepare samples with uniform microstructure and high strength. A dispersant, semicarbazide hydrochloride (S-HCl) and two preparing methods, ball-milling and turbomixing, were utilized to disperse alumina agglomerates in aqueous solution. With an air-pressure-casting and step-sintering schedule, fine-grain alumina of average grain size 2.5μm, average four-point bending strength of 506MPa, and reproducible Weibull distribution (modulus=12) were obtained. The ζ-potential of APA-0.2 powder, the rheology of the slurries, green density, porosity and sintering properties of the powder were presented and discussed. Properties of green and sintered APA-0.2, including fracture strength, were compared with that of samples prepared from A-16SG powder.

    本研究の目的は多様なコンテンツを提供するための指針を得ることである。 そのために、スポーツコンテンツを構成する要素を分析し、明かにした。 スポーツコンテンツはスポーツ元来の魅力である試合と、多様な付加情報 から成り立っている。  競技と映像コンテンツの特徴となる試合の魅力は、見どころと展開からなるとした。  第1に、スポーツと見どころを構成する要素の関係を数量化理論_III_類を用いて分析した。その結果2つのことが明らかとなった。(1)見どころとスポーツの関係には同時にプレイする対戦相手の有無が影響を与えている。(2)日米欧の3大スポーツは多様な見どころをバランスよく含んでいる。  第2に、スポーツと展開の関係をセマンティックグラフを用いて分析した。その結果、2つのことが明らかとなった。(1)ゴールのような重要な場面では、グラフが急激に変化する。(2)試合観戦の印象は、このグラフの変化の現れる間隔によって変わる。  次に、スポーツコンテンツに付加される情報の性質について明かにするために、付加情報をKJ法を用いて分類した。その結果付加情報は、対象に対する判断基、準となる情報、対象の本質とは異なる視点・価値を示す情報の2つに別れることが分かった。   以上の分析により以下のことがわかった。(1)スポーツコンテンツは見どころによって対象となる領域に対する知識の有無にかかわらず人々を惹きつる。(2)付加情報を組み合わせることによって人々に様々な視点を与え、コンテンツを多様化させている。  すなわち、ある領域におけるコンテンツを充実させるためには、その領域における見どころとなる要素を抽出し、提供することが重要だということがわかった。

    In face-to-face communication, talkers perceive various affects and emotions of other talkers as the eye-impressions such as

    or dilated pupil. In the previous studies, focusing on the eye-impressions in social robots, various expression methods such as changing the LED color or blinking the LED were proposed and developed. However, it is difficult to generate the affective expressions with the

    that has an optical reflection characteristic on the surface of the eyeball by using the LED. Therefore, in order to enhance the eye-impressions of social robots, it is expected to develop an expressible method with the affective
    highlight
    . In this study, we proposed an affective
    highlight
    to enhance the eye-impressions of social robots. This method introduces a virtual lighting in virtual space and can generate rich affective expressions by controlling various parameters of the virtual lighting such as brightness or colors. In addition, we developed a speech-driven pupil response system that applied the affective
    highlight
    to the pupil response interface which has been developed. This system can generate the affective expressions by the dilation of pupil response that is synchronized with the talker’s speech as well as the
    highlight
    expression with talker’s intentional input. The effectiveness of the developed system with the affective
    highlight
    was demonstrated by sensory evaluations.

      Physical assessment skills are now being more widely accepted by pharmacists and pharmaceutical departments than in the past. This is explained by the realization that pharmacists can prevent serious adverse effects and evaluate drug efficacy for their patients through assessment, thus providing effective medical care. However, is that all physical assessment can provide to pharmacists and pharmaceutical students? These students, in turn, should recognize the “need for skill” and the “pleasure to be gained in acquiring that skill” through the physical assessment performed by doctors. They should also recognize the importance of medical devices (e.g., stethoscope, electrocardiograph and endoscope) and take responsibility for creating their own techniques for their use. Here they will consider valuable pharmaceutical skills. “Yaku-jutsu” is a pharmaceutical diagnosis to determine the time required to achieve maximum beneficial effects and effective drug administration based on that diagnosis. Pharmacists cannot gain public trust unless they relieve a patient's pain using Yaku-jutsu which has been made available to them by the research support of a pharmaceutical department.

    lines. This paper also proposes methods for defining evolutes representing the curvature centers of a surface cross section by using

    line information, and clarifies that an involute of an evolute is the cross section having a shape with the required
    highlight
    lines. Process methods to define an evolute of the shape of a modified cross section are classified according to the changes of the curvature. The system was developed by implementing algorithms based on the proposed method, and the usefulness of the system was confirmed through fundamental tests.

    3レベルプロセスは,一回の露光で,3値の電位レベルを持つ電位潜像を作成し,帯電極性の異なる2色のトナーで帯電電位部と放電電位部を選択的に現像し,中間電位部を白部とすることにより,1パスで2色プリントを得る印刷方式である.3レベルプロセスにおいて,画像周縁部の強調された周辺電界よって帯電極性の異なるもう一色のトナーが現像されて誤印字となるフリンジ現像は最も大きな問題である.我々は,まずフリンジ現像について検討し,発生位置,発生条件等を明らかにした.そして,露光制御によって,画像エッジ部の急激な電位の変化を緩やかにすることで画像周縁部の強調された周辺電界を抑制し,フリンジ現像を防止する技術(EECT: Edge Effect Control Technology)を開発した.また,EECTを用いて適正にフリンジ現像が防止できる条件を明確にした.

    消費者嗜好の多様化,その変化サイクルの短期化への対応の1つとして,本研究は曲面形状評価プロセスの効率化を目指している.スケッチを基に構築されたモデル形状は,ハイライト曲線により評価されるが,デザイナが要求するハイライト曲線が得られていない場合,デザイナからの指示を受け,オペレータが形状を修正し,デザイナが再び評価するという作業を繰り返すことになる.この評価修正のサイクルを繰り返すことがコストと時間の面で非効率的であるという問題が指摘されている.この解決のため,オペレータを介すことなく,デザイナ自身で評価修正が出来るようなCADシステムの開発を具体的な目的とする.システムに対するユーザの入力は,変更したいハイライト曲線と曲面形状修正の範囲を規定する1対の拘束するハイライト曲線,そして求めるハイライト曲線形状のみであり,形状修正は自動的に行われる.デザイナが満足する曲面とは,曲率分布が滑らかな曲面のことを言う.提案したアルゴリズムは,これを保証するために縮閉線と伸開線の関係を利用して曲面構築を行っている.提案したアルゴリズムに基づいてシステムを実装し,基礎実験を通じてその有用性を確認した.

    Two experiments were performed to examine how the apparent depth of a shaded circle on a plane was affected by the direction and the distance of a
    highlight
    in the shaded area from the center of the circle. Fourteen undergraduates were asked to rate the concentrically shaded circle according to the apparent depth using the method of magnitude estimation. Experiment 1 showed that the rating was the highest in the upper-left, upper-right, and top conditions of the direction and the lowest in the bottom condition. Experiment 2 showed that the rating was the highest when the
    highlight
    was located at a third of the diameter of the circle apart from the center and the lowest when the
    highlight
    was on the edge of the circle or in the center. On the whole, the results support Ramachandran's “Assumption of Light From Above”, which states that humans perceive a circle shaded bright in the top and dark in the bottom as convex due to their long experience on the earth since their birth.

    We introduce software that recognizes, extracts, and displays expressions concerning atomic and molecular data from academic papers in the electronic form. This software includes a toolbar application that can be installed in Internet Explorer (IE). This toolbar can be used by scientific readers and researchers to
    highlight
    , color-code, and collect important expressions more easily. Those expressions include atomic and molecular symbols (e.g., Xe+ and H2O) and electron configurations(e.g., 4d95s25p) from the atomic and molecular data of a large number of academic papers. We confirmed by experiments that the software could find important expressions with high precision (0.8-1.0). This software is also useful for compiling databases of atomic and molecular data, which is important for plasma simulations, because the simulations critically depend on atomic and molecular data, including the energy levels and collisional and radiative rate coefficients.

    This paper describes an extended 3-D vision system for spherical objects using

    patterns formed by specular reflection on surfaces of the objects. The extended system has less restriction about arrangement of cameras and point light sources than the former system that proposed by the authors. The basic performances of the extended system are proved by experiments.

    The pulping technology is demanded the innovative technology which has potential solution to new enviromental problems and energy problems encountering right now.
    This paper reviewed on the recent pulping technology as well as the developing technology in the near future regarding mechanical pulping, chemical pulping and biotechnology for pulping.
    1. Mechanical pulping
    Three items, such as 1) potential CTMP usage for replacing BKP, 2) countermeasures for the reduction of color reversion and 3) technology for saving process energy are focussed here briefly.
    2. Chemical pulping
    The major descriptive stories are written on the countermeasures how to reduce AOX generated in bleaching process, and touched upon the novel pulping processes such as olganosolving processes.
    3. Biotechnology for pulping Biotechnology for pulping is considered here as a great promise technology for 21st century.

    In this study, we evaluated the performance of sol-gel method-deposited titanium dioxide (TiO2)-based DSSCs with three different organic dyes extracted from hibiscus flower’s foliage, plum and eggplant peels under laboratory conditions (light irradiation of 1 kW/m2 and an ambient temperature of 25 °C). As the hibiscus-based dye DSSC exhibited the best stability in terms of maximum electric power output and efficiency, and since humidity in Japan is almost uniform, we decided to test the aforementioned DSSC under real conditions in Morocco -deemed a sunny country with varying weather conditions from one region to another- in terms of output electric currentvoltage characteristics and stability. Besides, and for the sake of comparison with other silicon PV, the performance of a 0.75 Wp m-silicon solar cell was also assessed. The hibiscus flower’s petals-based dye sol-gel DSSC was found to be competitive in terms of output voltage and six times less photocurrent-generative than the silicon one. Also, it was made clear that the DSSC’s stability is function of the evaporation rate of the liquid-state electrolyte (loss of iodine) that strongly depends on the ambient temperature and the relative air humidity.

    本論文では,自然光と人工的な照明が含まれる複雑な照明環境下での複数光源のシーン照明の分光分布を推定する手法を提案する.我々は,不均質誘電体の曲面をもつ物体表面が異なる方向から複数の光源によって照らされると想定する.物体からの光反射は二色性反射モデルで説明され,鏡面反射成分にはシーンの照明に関する多くの情報が含まれている.まず,我々は高次元の分光イメージングシステムを記述する.次に,獲得した画像の鏡面ハイライト領域の候補を検出する手法を提案し,照明光推定に適したハイライト領域を決定する.さらに,各ハイライト領域から光源の分光分布を推定するアルゴリズムを提示する.推定された照明の分光分布は類似度に基づいて統合される.提案手法の有効性は,いくつかの光源の下で実在の物体を用いた実験で示される.

     Approximately 100000 people suffer cardiopulmonary arrest in Japan every year, and the aging of society means that this number is expected to increase. Worldwide, approximately 100 million develop cardiac arrest annually, making it an international issue. Although survival has improved thanks to advances in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, there is a high rate of postresuscitation encephalopathy after the return of spontaneous circulation, and the proportion of patients who can return to normal life is extremely low. Treatment for postresuscitation encephalopathy is long term, and if sequelae persist then nursing care is required, causing immeasurable economic burdens as a result of ballooning medical costs. As at present there is no drug treatment to improve postresuscitation encephalopathy as a complication of cardiopulmonary arrest, the development of novel drug treatments is desirable. In recent years, new efficacy for existing drugs used in the clinical setting has been discovered, and drug repositioning has been proposed as a strategy for developing those drugs as therapeutic agents for different diseases. This review describes a large-scale database study carried out following a discovery strategy for drug repositioning with the objective of improving survival rates after cardiopulmonary arrest and discusses future repositioning prospects.

    People’s affective states when watching sports videos can be related to their physiological responses. This study proposes a method for extracting sports video highlights from viewers’ physiological data using fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is a multivalued logic, which is similar to human thinking and interpretation, and it has been widely applied to emotion recognition. An experimental evaluation of the proposed method was conducted in a soccer game viewing context. Viewers’ heart rate and galvanic skin response while watching a soccer game were collected and processed following fuzzy rules. Viewers were also asked to indicate time intervals when they felt excited during the game. To improve the accuracy, we use a genetic algorithm to optimize the fuzzy rules. The results of our fuzzy-logic-based approach with viewers’ labels showed the importance of our proposed method.
