    Objectives: There are few reports about patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in Japan. We investigated 200 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 over a 6-month period with the aim of elucidating their clinical characteristics and clinical courses.

    Methods: The study cohort comprised 200 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 during a 6-month period. We examined baseline characteristics, source of transmission, preadmission course, initial symptoms, concomitant symptoms, comorbidities, treatments, and prognosis.

    Results: The number of inpatients from outside our region increased from 9 in the second wave to 53 in the

    third
    wave
    . The initial manifestations were cold-like and gastroenteritis-like symptoms, gustatory and olfactory dysfunction being frequently occurring concomitant symptoms. On admission 32 patients had mild disease, 108 moderate I, 54 moderate II, and 6 severe. We divided the 200 patients into second and
    third
    wave
    groups and compared their baseline characteristics. The
    third
    wave
    group was older and had more severe disease. The main treatments implemented were dexamethasone and remdesivir. Three patients (1.5%) required ventilation and 12 (6.0%) died in hospital.

    Conclusions: We investigated 200 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 over a period of 6 months. The patients in the second wave were relatively young and most had mild disease. In contrast, the patients in the

    were older and had more severe disease and higher in-hospital mortality.

    Objectives: Little is known about workplace measures against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Japan during the winter of 2020, especially in micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). This study aimed to provide an overview of the current situation of anti-COVID-19 measures in Japanese enterprises during the winter, considering company size.

    Methods: This study was an Internet-based nationwide cross-sectional study. Individuals who were registered as full-time workers were invited to participate in the survey. Data were collected using an online self-administered questionnaire in December 2020. The chi-squared test for trend was performed to calculate the P-value for trend for each workplace measure across company sizes.

    Results: For the 27 036 participants, across company sizes, the most prevalent workplace measure was encouraging mask wearing at work, followed by requesting that employees refrain from going to work when ill and restricting work-related social gatherings and entertainment. These measures were implemented by approximately 90% of large-scale enterprises and by more than 40% of micro- and small-scale enterprises. In contrast, encouraging remote working was implemented by less than half of large-scale enterprises and by around 20% of micro- and small-scale enterprises. There were statistically significant differences in all workplace measures by company size (all P < .001).

    Conclusions: We found that various responses to COVID-19 had been taken in workplaces. However, some measures, including remote working, were still not well-implemented, especially in smaller enterprises. The findings suggest that occupational health support for MSMEs is urgently needed to mitigate the current wave of COVID-19.

    In response to the Covid-19 outbreak, nations worldwide imposed various restrictions on their citizens in an attempt to stem its spread. One underlying aspect of the success of these policies is people's adaptation to epidemics and their continuous cooperation with urban management to adhere to precautionary measures. Otherwise, the disease incidence and death rates in the countries will not decrease. The situation that has occurred in Iran since the beginning of September and a sudden rise has put this country at the top of the daily reported deaths of Covid-19 (in proportion to the population) in October and November. Thus, this study will focus on two important Iranian metropolises (Tehran and Karaj) to understand: 1) What is the level of citizens’ cooperation in complying with Covid-19-related precautionary measures? 2) How has the level of citizens' precautionary behaviors changed compared to the early days of the outbreak? 3) Is there a correlative relationship between citizens' personal and socioeconomic characteristics and their level of cooperation in this period? This cross-sectional study is based on online surveys (completion of 667 online questionnaires by ordinary citizens living in Tehran and Karaj). Findings show the participation of 30.3% in implementing all precautionary measures, with women, high-income groups, unemployed people, and those without a history of Covid-19 infection having a higher odds ratio than others. In terms of citizens' behavior, 21% have reduced their level of cooperation in this area, which is correlated with their personal and socioeconomic characteristics (except their city of residence).

    It is a purpose of this study to elucidate the dynamics of the esophageal motility by analizing the intraluminal pressure curve in the esophagus by means of measurement of the pressure and fluorocinematography.
    The intraluminal pressure was measured by open tipped method and fluorocinematography was performed with an image intensifier. Twenty-three normal individuals were studied, and the films of fluorocinematography were projected and enlarged to be compaired with the intraluminal pressure curve.
    By this method, it was studied that the time relation of the change of the intraluminal pressure was analized according to the time of arrival and passing of contrast medium in a hole where the pressure was added.

    Objective: COVID-19 has dramatically affected Western Society's relationship with work and contributed to increased worker burnout. Existing studies on burnout have mostly emphasized workplace culture, leadership, and employee engagement as key contributors to burnout. In this cross-sectional study, we examine the associations between Malach-Pines Short Burnout Measure (MPSBM) scores and participant's self reported personal characteristics, financial strain, workplace conditions, work-life balance, and social inclusion among Canadians living during the

    third
    wave
    of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Methods: To identify the most salient correlates of burnout, Canadian residents, aged 16+, were recruited using paid social media advertisements in French and English to complete a cross-sectional study. Multivariable linear regression and dominance analysis identified the most salient correlates of MPSBM scores. Exposure variables included demographic factors, financial strain, workplace conditions, work-life balance, social support, and loneliness.

    Results: Among 486 participants, family social support (adjusted β = −0.14, 95%CI = −0.23, −0.05), emotional loneliness (adjusted β = 0.26, 95% CI = 0.18, 0.35), insufficient sleep (adjusted β = 0.38, 95% CI = 0.16, 0.60) and “me time” (adjusted β = 0.22, 95% CI = 0.03, 0.42), and indicators of financial security (e.g., owning vs renting; adjusted β = −0.36, 95% CI = −0.54, −0.17; insufficient pay: adjusted β = −0.36, 95% CI = −0.54, −0.17) were key burnout indicators. People with a bachelor's degree (vs ≤high school diploma; adjusted β = 0.29, 95% CI = 0.01, 0.58) also had higher burnout scores.

    Conclusion: Interventions addressing workplace culture, leadership, and other proximal workplace stressors, while important, are likely insufficient to meet the needs of workers. Our findings suggest that broader, holistic multicomponent approaches that address multiple upstream dimensions of health-including mental health-are likely necessary to prevent and reduce burnout.

    Purpose: To clarify the association between the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic curve and Google Trends search volumes for the disease during the three major epidemic waves in Japan.
    Method: Correlation between the number of cases of coronavirus disease 2019 in Japan and the internet search volume for "corona" in the period 12th January 2020 to 19th February 2021 was evaluated using the open database provided by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation and Google Trends index data.
    Results: The peak search volume for "corona" was highest during the first wave and lowest during the
    third
    wave
    . In contrast, the peak number of new cases per week was lowest during the first wave and highest during the
    third
    wave
    . The search volume and number of new cases per week showed strong correlations in each wave; however, the search volume in each wave decreased remarkably from the first to the
    third
    wave
    .
    Conclusion: This study identified evidence of so-called "pandemic fatigue", a habituation reaction against COVID-19, in Japan. Prolonged and repeated waves of the epidemic have made people less sensitive for preventing spread of coronavirus disease 2019. Sustained, clear communication will be required to elicit the cooperation of the population in controlling the pandemic.

    Nicotinic acid hydrazid (NH) gave three waves at the dropping mercury electrode and can be polarographicallyd etermined. Sarkomycinn icotinic acid hydrazid derivative (SK-NH), consisting of sarkomycin (SK) and NH, gave three polarographic waves, one of which disappeared in alkaline pH region.     Intraesophageal pressure measurements by the use of electrical pressure transducer was obtained in 60 healthy adult subjects.
    1) In the resting state, high pressure zone were recorded on both ends of esophagus.
    These indicate Pharyngoesophageal Junction (PEJ) and Gastroesophageal Junction (GET).
    2) The upper sphincter (PEJ) relaxed 0.4 second after begening of a swallow, remained relaxation 0.8 second, and then closed.
    3) The speed of peristaltic wave was not constant in various parts of esophagus, its slows down in 20cm-25cm from incisors and GEJ.
    4) Abnormal peristalsis is often observed. There were non-peristaltic wave a peristalsis, repetitive non-peristaltic wave and others.
    5) These abnormal waves is ovserved, generally, in lower two-third of esophagus and more frequently in older subjects than younger ones.
    6) The lower esophageal sphincter (GEJ) opened 2.5 second after a swallow, remained negative phase 8.0 second, and then closed.

    CAD/CAM/CAEソフトウェアが市販されるになりシミュレーション技術を製造工程の現場で活用する事例が多く報告されている。製造工程の現場では厳密な制御が困難な因子も多くロバスト最適条件の探索が重要であることが多い。本研究ではCAEによる切削加工解析によりロバストな工具形状設計を行った。さらにこの工具を用いたCAD/CAMモデル上での切削シミュレーションによりNCデータの最適化を行う。

    In conclusion, we have tried to partially answer the questions about “What is on the other side of the 21st century doorway?” The answers were discussed in the light of a “
    third
    -
    wave
    ” framework. Five major factors of 1) information management, 2) demographic changes, 3) global environment, 4) world economics and political forces, and 5) health and wellness lifestyles, were introduced to help us prepare for effective health care practice in the next century. Also, it was mentioned that successful health care delivery was incumbent upon professional care giver skills of 1) critical thinking, 2) care management, 3) primary care, 4) community focused, and 5) relationship-centered care. Finally, I believe that collegiality and sharing of better ways of health care delivery such as those demonstrated between our two Universities for more than 16 years is one of the most significant demonstrations of “forecasting a healthier future” for all of us.

     本論では、フェミニズムの理論とスポーツ文化はどのように関わり合っているのか、今日の女性アスリートの表象はどのような意味を示しているのか、1990年代に登場した第三波フェミニズムの諸理論を参照しながら考察している。まず、アメリカにおける女性スポーツ環境の変化に注目し、そのような変化を導いたのがフェミニズム運動の成果であったことを説明する。ところが、スポーツ文化への女性の参画が進むにつれて、徐々に女性アスリートやスポーツをする若い女性のイメージは、商品の購買を促すコマーシャルの「優れた」アイコンに成り下がってしまった。そこで、女性アスリートやスポーツをする若い女性が登場する広告を事例に、女性たちが現在ではコマーシャリズムと商品化の餌食となり、美と健康と消費への欲望を喚起させられていること、そして、今日の女性とスポーツ文化との関係が複雑なものになったことを示す。最後に、複雑な関係になったとはいえ、スポーツ文化は今日においても「密やかなフェミニズム(Stealth feminism)」の現れる重要な現場であるということを、ストリート・スポーツの例を紹介しながら説明する。

    This paper presents a nationwide survey about how Japanese home-visit nursing stations prepared and coped with the coronavirus disease 2019 COVID-19 pandemic. This study also aimed to provide a practical foundation and guide to develop business continuity plans (BCPs) for home-visit nursing stations and nursing care facilities to cope with pandemics. We applied a resource-focused BCP framework to efficiently collect and summarize knowledge and experiences from many facilities about the responses and countermeasures based on the three fundamental purposes to keep resources: prevent loss, promote increase, and utilize limited resources. We conducted a survey during Japan’s

    third
    wave
    of the COVID-19 pandemic and analyzed the responses using a qualitative and inductive content analysis method. We could develop categories to summarize various responses and countermeasures in a consistent and comprehensive manner. Based on the analysis results, we proposed six fundamental sub-plans to reorganize resource-focused BCP. The categorization and sub-plans are not special or innovative; however, since they focus only on resources and explain what we need to consider in BCPs in terms of action plans for resources, we expect that it is easier for BCP non-experts to understand the concept and utilize it for developing practical responses and countermeasures.

    超音波画像診断装置により,牛の卵巣における卵胞(直径により大型:10 mm以上,中型:5 mm以上10 mm未満,小型:2 mm以上5 mm未満に区分)の発育動態を発情周期と妊娠初期に調べた.供試牛には,黒毛和種経産牛2頭を用い,1頭(No.2167)は,発情周期から妊娠初期にかけて連続90日間,他の1頭(No.2249)は5回の連続した発情周期にわたる112日間毎日観察した.両個体とも各発情周期中に中型卵胞群の発育・閉鎖退行の卵胞波がほとんどの場合で3回みられ,各波においておおむね1個の大型卵胞(優勢卵胞)が出現した.優勢卵胞の出現とともに中型卵胞数が減少する傾向がみられ,また各優勢卵胞の退行開始あるいは排卵とともに新たな中型卵胞群の卵胞波が出現する傾向がみられた.妊娠初期においても中型卵胞群は妊娠21日頃までは発情周期中と同様な卵胞波を示したが,それ以降は卵胞数の変動の少ない波となった.また,発情周期中に出現した第3波の優勢卵胞の最大直径は,第1波や第2波のそれに比べて大きい傾向にあった.さらに,発情周期中に出現する優勢卵胞は,左右の卵巣にランダムにほぼ同じ頻度でみられたが,発情周期中の第1波目と第2波目の優勢卵胞はほとんどの場合(14回中13回)黄体側に,第3波目の優勢卵胞は常に(6回中6回)反黄体側に出現した.しかし,妊娠初期の各優勢卵胞は左右の卵巣に不規則に現れ,発情周期中の第3波の優勢卵胞の最大直径と比べると小さい傾向にあった.

    コンピュータの出現による高度情報化社会の発達は我々の日常生活の様々な分野に大きな影響を与えている。なかでも人間精神よりも技術の発達が先行する文化的遅滞現象として,コンピュータと人間の間における微妙な関係が崩れた時生ずるテクノストレス(C. Brodは,テクノストレスをテクノ依存症とテクノ不安症に分類した),健康問題としてのVDT障害,そして労働の質的変化の問題があげられる。この研究の中心的課題は,テクノストレスとVDT障害の概念的差異を明らかにしながら,コンピュータを利用する労働者のテクノストレスと健康問題を分析するために,東京の大手コンピュータ会社の従業員182名を対象に調査を実施した。

    2-Amino-4-hydroxy-6-methylpteridine (I) showed three groups of two electron-two proton reduction wave. Its first wave indicates E1/2=(-0.25-0.07 pH) V vs. N. C. E. and diffusion current constant, kD=3.15 (μA mM-1mg.-2/3sec.1/2), and is due to reduction of undissociated pteridine to 7, 8-dihydropteridine. The second wave replaces the first wave at pH above 9 and is due to reduction of the anion. The
    third
    wave
    indicates E1/2=(-0.93-0.064 pH) and is due to reduction of the proton adduct of dihy-dropteridine to 5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydropteridine. Dihydropteridine, obtained by controlled potential electrolysis or chemical reduction of (I), showed the reduction wave similar to the
    third
    wave
    of (I), accompanied by a small anodic wave. The tetrahydro compound of (I) does not show any reduction wave but shows two electron-two proton oxidation wave of E1/2=(+0.27-0.06 pH) which is thought to be due to its oxidation to the dihydro compound of (I). The first wave above pH 9 and the
    third
    wave
    at above pH 5 in (I) indicate the nature of a kinetic current due to proton addition, and is affected greatly by the temperature, pH, kind and concentration of buffer solution, and pre-depolarizer. Oxidation of the dihydro compound of (I) is observed by rotating platinum electrode.

    Short and intense laser pulse can process the surface and the inside of transparent materials by focusing the pulse at desired position. Processing of such a transparent material is considered to be applicable to a lot of practical applications. Details of such process are, however, still unclear and are subjects of further investigations. Here we report on dynamical observation about interaction of fundamental radiation (1064nm) of the Q-switched Nd : YAG laser to the surface of PMMA observed by an imaging system with nanosecond time resolution. The system uses fundamental radiation of a Q-switched Nd : YAG laser as a processing laser and second harmonic radiation (532nm) of another Nd : YAG laser as illuminating light. We observed stress waves which propagate into the material and into the atmosphere by shadowgraph, schlieren and photoelastic method. We distinguished three different types of waves propagating into the bulk samples. The contrast of photoelastic images depends on laser pulse energy. Based on this result, we try to examine the effects of incidence angle of the laser to coupling between laser radiations and the material and found that magnitude of stress wave correlates with laser fluence.
