Decontamination, including soil stripping and soil dressing, has been conducted in areas with evacuation orders after an accident at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which occurred in 2011. We surveyed the biota in five paddy fields in Iitate village after decontamination (2016). The results obtained in 2016 were compared with the survey results obtained before the accident (2008 and 2009). In 2016, exuviae of Sympetrum were found in two paddy fields, although none were found at all survey points before the accident. Tokyo Daruma pond frogs (Rana porosa porosa) were found at all surveyed points before the accident; however, no frogs were found in 2016. Biota in the paddy fields after decontamination differed from that before the accident.
