Segmentation of an image composed of different kinds of texture fields is one of the most important theme in image understanding and indispensable for the object recognition. The purpose of this paper is to divide an image composed of different kinds of texture fields into the same segmentaion areas with Modified Messy Genetic Algorithm(MMGA). In this paper, we consider texture segmentaion as an optimization problem and propose the texture segmentation method that reduces calculation cost by applying MMGA to this problem.
