Ⅰ.Purpose
Anatomic studies indicate a strict midline separation in the standard cutaneous innervation maps in the peripheral trigeminal system1). Similarly, in the central nervous system, the established orofacial pain pathway suggests no direct anatomic connection between the bilateral trigeminal nerves2). However, a previous study demonstrated pain attenuation after botulinum neurotoxin type A injection contralateral to the nerve injury, suggesting an association between the trigeminal nerves3). Therefore, this study aims to investigate the potential link between the right and left trigeminal nerves.
