Summary: The New Orange Plan is required to contribute to the early detection of dementia by pharmacy workers who play the role of community health care. Therefore, awareness of dementia indispensable for early detection of dementia, and training of communication skills are necessary. The purpose of this research was to examine how the understanding and consciousness of dementia changed by the attribute of the trainee by holding the workshop. Comparisons in the questionnaire responses before and after the workshop were analyzed by hierarchical clustering analysis. As a result of this research, most of the trainees who had low knowledge and consciousness before the workshop were the pharmacists worked for shorter periods (81.8%). Contrary to our expectations, it was shown that the pharmacists worked for shorter periods are less aware of dementia than the pharmacy clerks. In health care workers, it was suggested that awareness of dementia correlated with periods of engagement, not a job type. Also, the group with low change after the workshop was about half of the pharmacy clerks and the pharmacists worked for longer periods, and about 3/4 of the pharmacists worked for shorter periods. Analysis of the questionnaire collected before and after this workshop recommends the necessity of conducting highly useful training for the pharmacists worked for shorter periods which were less affected by this workshop.
