In this article, a universal mechanism governing entrainment limit is shown to exist under weak forcings. This underlying mechanism enables us to understand how and why entrainability is maximized; maximization of the entrainment range or that of the stability of entrainment for general forcings including pulse trains, and a fundamental limit of general m:n entrainment, are clarified from a unified, global viewpoint. These entrainment limits are verified in the Hodgkin-Huxley neuron model as an example.

Sinc-collocation methods were developed for integral equations of the second kind by Rashidinia-Zarebnia, and their high convergence rates were confirmed by numerical experiments. However, runability and convergence of those methods have not been proved so far. Furthermore, those methods are in reality not implementable in application. Recent results by the present author, Matsuo and Sugihara have solved these issues, which are reviewed in this article.

In this paper, we give an overview of the paper. Specifically, by introducing a random variable with possible values of one vote, we define the Renyi entropy of the random variable. Then we show that the maximization of the Renyi entropy is to minimize the Renyi divergence (directed distance) from the distribution of seats to the distribution of population and vice versa. Moreover, we propose a new measure of the bias of the relaxed divisor method of apportionment.
