    This investigation is the third one that has been aided by a Grant-in-Aide for. Scientific Research in 1980.597 of instructors in Judo and Kendo at Upper Secondary Schools were investigated by questionnaire on their value orientation in the teaching methods. The results were as follows
    (1) It seems to be that one of the issues in the teaching methods of Judo and Kendo in school has not enough relations between objectives and contents or methods of their instructions.
    (2) According to my observations on teaching methods of Judo and Kendo, high correlations. between the appreciation of “theory”, its application, and will for its improvement is recognized, and then the. improvement of appreciation is followed by the improvement of instruction.
    (3). It should not be overlooked that Judo has“human education-oriented”, while Kendo has “skill education-oriented” in their instruction.
    (4) It is apparently observed that the strong point of instruction with “human education-oriented” including education for administrative aspects.
    (5) The distinguishing marks of “human education-oriented”/“mutual welfare and benefit-oriented” instruction are recognized that they have approving trends in all aspects of aims, objectives, and contents so on, and that they improve the value orientaion and/or conformity of physical education in Judo and Kendo.

    It is a well known fact that the heart volume is a key factor of stroke volume, cardiac output and maximal oxygen uptake. We measured cardiac silhouette of senior high school judo champions, aged 16 to 18 years, by longitudinal method (1979-1980). To determine the heart volume, Rohrer-Kahlstrof method was used. The results were as follows:
    1. The heart volume (ml) at standing posture were observed to be 935.5 ± 110.9(Judo,1979),923.4 ± 87.0 (Judo,1980) and 586.5 ± 82.2 (Non-athletes) in senior high school judo athletes and non-athletes respectively.
    2. In senior high school judo athletes and non-athletes, the heart volume per kilogram body weight (ml/kg) were 9.9 ± 0.8 (Judo,1979),9.4 ± 1.0 (Judo,1980)and 10.3 ± 1.1 (Non-athletes) respectively.
    3. A close relationship was found between the heart volume and the body weight with a correlation coefficient of r=0.8155 (p<O.01,1979), r=0.7589 (p<O.05,1980)in senior high school judo athletes respectively.
    4. The regression equation for this relationship was as follows:
    Y=6.64X+303.6 (1979) (Y=Heart volume)
    Y=4,17X+505.8 (1980) (X=Body weight)
    5. The heart volume per kilogram body weight had significantly correlation to the body weight with the coefficient of r=-0.5299 (p<O.05,1979), r=.0.8134(p<O.01,1980) respectively.
    6. The regression epuation for this relation was as follow:
    Y= 0.031X+12.8 (1979)Y= Heart volume per kilogram body weight
    Y= O.049X +14.2 (1980) X=Body weight
