Growth regulating properties of dymron, 1-(α, α-dimethylbenzyl) -3-paratolyl urea were studied, "Ginbozu", a normal and "Tan-ginbozu", a GA-deficient dwarf rice cultivars being used. Dymron reduced the plant height and the length of panicle, internodes, leaf blades and sheaths and increased the number of tillers in both cultivars. From these results, it is suggested that dymron inhibits the growth of rice not as an inhibitor of GA-biosynthesis or a GA-antagonist.
