We developed SSR marker sets which identify 13 rice cultivars recommended by Fukui Prefecture. Six SSR markers, RM6933, RM2615, RM2744, RM3034, RM2808 and MS-3 were used in this experiment. Two marker sets, i.e. "RM8208, RM3034, RM2615, RM2744" or "RM6933, RM8208, RM3034, RM2744, MS-3", identify all the cultivars tested. Among them, three SSR markers, RM6933, RM8208 and RM3034 were identified as eight nonglutinous cultivars for staple food.

Growth, yield and grain quality of Koshihikari cultivated with exuded liquid obtained from piled compost were studied. Organic exuded liquid may be useful for organic cultivation because the yield showed the same as in conventional cultivation. From results obtained here, we suggasted that It is necessary to control the dilution rate of the organic exuded liquid before inflow to the paddy field to improve the grain quality.

Effects of gypsum application rate and gypsum application record on growth, physiological activity of root system and yield in soybean cv. Enrei were studied and also discussed. Yield was increased in the plot of gypsum application recode compared to non gypsum application plot. Main root dry weight, root nodule dry weight and total root dry weight were increased in the plot of one year gypsum application compared to non gypsum application plot. Amount of Rb uptake was increased in the gypsum application plot compared to non gypsum application plot.

Total dry matter (TDM), pods dry matter and yield of good pods of direct sowing green-soybean increased significantly observed in the plot of ridging tilled by up-cut rotary than in the plot of ridging tilled by down-cut rotary or without ridging. Due to the increase in both the rate of soil pulverization and the oxygen concentration in the ridge soil tilled by up-cut rotary, it was suggested that the high emergence rate, root length density and nutrition absorbing ability were effective for enhancing the TDM at harvesting.

The Additional effects of 2,4-D on the barley haploid production by the bulbosum method were studied. The frequencies increase of seeded florets and embryo formation was marked in the case of the addition of 75ppm 2,4-D into the culture solution of detached spikes. On the other hand, the frequency of the haploid production from embryo was not significant in both case of the addition of 0.25% and 1% malt extract into the embryo culture medium.

The evaluation test of agronomic traits for four new breeding lines of rye, which were bred in Shinshu University derived from four commercial cultivars, was carried out. There new breeding lines were selected based on early maturity and high yield since 2005. The averages of heading date in new breeding lines were earlier than that in the commercial cultivars, and their heading date varied from 21 to 22 April. Dry-matter yield of all of new breeding lines was higher than the commercial cultivar 'raitaro' which is near heading date with breeding lines. These facts is suggeste that it is possible to utilize the breeding lines of extremely early maturity in middle cool-climate.

The evaluation test was carried out using two recombinant inbred lines (RILs) concerned with high sugar content in sorghum. The RILs (F_4 generation) were obtained from 2 cross combinations, bmr-6×SIL-05 and Nakei MS-3B(bmr-18)×Italian. There were no differences in sugar content and the variation between bmr-6×SIL-05 and Nakei MS-3B(bmr-18)×Italian nevertheless there were differences in heading date and culm length. Significant correlations were observed between Brix and heading date, culm length in bmr-6×SIL-05. On the other hand, there were no significant correlations in Nakei MS-3B(bmr-18)×Italian. These results suggests that the factors concerned Brix are different in the two RILs (F_4 generation).

To clarify the new method for the improvement of regrowth ability in sorghum, the evaluation test about yield characters in the aftermath was carried out using two F_2 populations of sorghum×sudanngrass (NakeiMS-3B×Green leaf and JN43×Green leaf). The results should that we would like to emphasize that the difference in the yield of aftermath between the two F_2 populations was affected by the stem number of aftermath. This also suggested that it is necessary to select sorghum in the view of stem number in the aftermath.

To clarify the effects of sterility and bird damage on the Brix sugar of the cane in sorghum, this examination was carried out using 10 hybrid lines. There were no remarkable differences in Brix sugar, dry matter percentage and rate of raw panicle weight between sterile plants and bird damaged plants in each hybrid line. These results suggested that the effects of sterility and bird damage on Brix sugar are the same in the late-maturing variety of sorghum.

To clarify the trampling tolerance of sorghum and sudangrass, the evaluation tests were carried out using 56 commercial varieties. From the results, tolerance to trampling in the dual purpose type and the sorgo type was inferior to other types. Furthermore, it was suggested that trampling by tractor is very usefull to evaluate the trampling tolerance of sorghum and sudangrass.

Since only the sprouts of Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum are used as a vegetable, the duration of shipment is short under natural conditions. For unseasonable shipments, low temperature storage of bulbs was examined in this experiment. The result showed that it became possible to ship at the beginning of October when bulbs were stored in the water moistened-vermiculite under low temperature conditions (-5〜0℃). Farthormore a marketable model for all-year-round shipment.
