    New model has been proposed to analyze the leak before berak characteristics and plastic collapse behaviour of statically indeterminate pipe system with circumferetial crack quantatively and easily. The main results obtained are as follows. 1) By combining limit analysis theory and elasto-plastic fracture mechaics, the effects of crack size, compliance and fracture toughness on plastic collapse behavior and structural integrity of statically indeterminate pipe system have been analyzed quantatively. 2) The analysis method adopted in this paper is useful and conveninet to evaluate the LBB and plastic collapse behavior of a piping system.

    Using bend specimen, mixed mode fracture test on PMMA was conducted not only to investigate the effect of shear stress on crack growth path but also to evaluate relevant parameters governing crack initiation and propagation behavior. A microscopic examination on the fracture surface shows an obvious transition from initial stable fibrous fracture to flat mirror-like unstable fracture when the shearing stress increases. The crack growth path is simulated by Gmax criterion as long as stable crack propagation takes place. The crack propagation behavior under mixed mode loading is discussed from the viewpoint of energy release rate.

    Ballistic performance of various ceramic composite plates with KFRP back-up plate was studied.
    The results showed conoid zone in ceramics showed significant difference between each ceramics, under the impact condition used, and its conoid zone was more predominant factor than mechanical properties of ceramics to determinz the ballistic performance of composite plates. However, when the difference in conoid zone between each ceramics was small, ceramic performance could not be graded because impact load distributions in conoid zone had some effects on the deformation patterns of KFRP back-up plates.

    Pressure and temperature calibration of FB-belt type apparatus was carried out at pressures between 4 and 6GPa and temperatures between 1000 and 1500°C using pressure and temperature condition of diamond formation and CaGeO3 phase transition. Pressure and temperature points used as standard were minimum condition of diamond formation in the Ni-C system at 5.4GPa and 1384°C and in the Fe66-Ni34-C system at 4.98GPa and 1216°C. The temperature dependence of garnet-perovskite phase transition curve of CaGeO3, P (GPa)=6.9-0.0008T(°C), determined by Susaki et al. was also used as standard of the calibration. With increasing temperature the cell pressure increases about 20% between 1000 and 1500°C due to thermal expansion of NaCl used as pressure transmitting medium and the reaction cell. The amounts of pressure increase estimated both from the diamond formation and from CaGeO3 phase transition agreed within 0.05GPa.

    Friction welding of various aluminum alloy pipes to S25C carbon steel pipe was conducted. The welded joints were offered to tensile test for examining the weldability of aluminum alloy and steel. In the case of A1050/S25C, A6061/S25C and A6063/S25C, the good welded joints were obtained under the constant welding condition, the maximum joint efficiencies of these joints were about 80.4%, 66.8% and 68.4% respectively, and the strong adhesive trace of aluminum was observed on the tensile fractured surface of S25C. In the case of aluminum alloys, rich in malleability, such as A5052, A5056, A6061 and A6063, the joint strength increased with an increase of burn-off speed. On the other hand, in the case of hard aluminum alloy having poor malleability such as A2011, A2017, A2024 and A7075, the joint strength decreased with an increase of burn-off speed. In case of A5052/S25C and A5056/S25C, if the optimum welding condition is selected, perhaps the good welded joint will be obtained.
