Historically, temples have functioned as places of cultural creation in a wide range of genres, including architecture, arts, and crafts, and as hubs of local communities. This report examines a pioneering example of an Artist-in-Residence (AIR), in which the temple's lodgings are used as residences. This is a preliminary report to contribute to the academic and practical development of AIR, including the elucidation of the dynamics of the "place" of residence and the role and impact it plays in the community.
