    The purpose of this paper is to investigate the cause of the rigidity of the organized system in the kimono industry which is one of representatives in the traditional industries. Premised that tradition has various values and that it can be institutionalized, the author discussed the theoretical genealogy of conspicuous values, symbolic values, authentic values, and creative values. In conclusion, this paper showed that the kimono industry shared and institutionalized conspicuous values, not only binding consumers' consciousness, but also stiffening the organization itself.

    This paper examines the value creation and its formation process produced by the activities of craft artists, artworks, and social collaborative research programs belonging to universities of arts and design in the creative environment of Kyoto and Kanazawa, Japan. This illustrates the formation process of the creative environment which promotes the innovation and inheritance through knowledge sharing of developing talent, artworks, and social educational research programs abundant in diversity and expertise.
