Many kinfs of chemical operations are required in the nuclear engineering field, regardless fission or fusion engineerings. The chemical filed supported in this nuclear engineering is called as the nuclear energy chemistry. The nuclide separation and isotope separation are ones of the most important and most necessary techniques for the nuclear fuel cycle engineering, the reactor chemical engineering, etc. among the nuclear engineering field. I have been studing the application of ion exchange to the nuclide separation and the isotope separation in the nuclear energy chemisty. In the present paper, this application is introduced.
The author originally majored in “Chemical Engineering“ and “Catalytic Reaction”, then has engaged in ion exchange technology development over many years in Kurita. In case of the pure water production using ion exchange resin, occurrence of a large amount of waste water for regeneration of the resin in compensation for the pure water production became a huge issue to be solved. Therefore the author commercialized for the first time the new pure water production system without occurring any waste water in the world. The main technology of this system is “Continuous electro de-ionization” method and currently such system has spread widely in the world.
