In order to determine the relative contribution of the suspensoid to the mechanical wear and electrochemical corrosion of the rotating mild steel specimen, the latter was eliminated electrochemically or by using the inhibitor.
The effect of the kind of suspensoid, temperature, and the electrode potential of the corroding specimen were observed.

Amine-type corrosion inhibitors, which were made by reacting 1Mol. of higher fatty amines and 2-3Mols. of higher fatty acids, were tested for rust inhibitors as additives of hydrocarbon oils. The inhibitor, consisting of C₁₈-amine and C₁₈-saturated acid, was found best, because of its less wettability, its temperate solubility in oil and its covering ability of metal surfaces.
