This paper focuses on discussing the future issues of research activities, soundness of financial resources, and quality improvement of journals among the activities of Japan Society of Educational Information, which has a history of more than 30 years up to now from Showa, Heisei, to Reiwa era. In addition, the exchanges (academic exchange, human resources exchange, high-quality and motivated foreign student acceptance, etc.) with foreign countries in the global society have been discussed.

The freshmen who entered to universities in 2017 and 2018 had witnessed that smartphone and SNS became common in their adolescence. Therefore, someone calls them < Smartphone Native<. This paper analyzes that their ICT literacy and usage of smartphone through survey data. We reveal that (1) the competencies concerning information ethics and e-mail do not have correlation with other ICT competencies, (2) their usage time of smartphone can be longer if they use various functions of smartphone, and (3) their ICT competencies do not have correlation with their usage time of smartphone.

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between various consciousness of programming and flexibility in creative attitudes. A survey was conducted on 226 first-year public high school students. Based on the data from the survey, as a result of performing exploratory factor analysis, two flexibility factors “knowledgeable / outward flexibility” and “improvisational / problem-solving flexibility” were found. Additionally, correlations between the items of two flexibility factors and various consciousness of programming were confirmed. From the above, it was suggested that subjects and activities that evoked flexibility might contribute to improvement of various consciousness of programming.

Public health nurses need region-specific geographical information such as population by age group and location of social resources, in addition to health statistics, to conduct health activities effectively. Therefore, in this study, we designed and actually practiced a regional diagnosis curriculum using geographical information systems (GISs) in a public health nurse course. It provided an opportunity for students becoming public health nurses to learn a method to ascertain the situation prevailing in the region. Subjects were 64 third-year students of the public health nurse course at A university. After having learned the outline of regional diagnosis and how to carry it out, students practiced using GIS in accordance with the instruction manual prepared by us. They undertook group work that used GIS for regional diagnosis. Results revealed that they were able to identify health issues rooted in the region and were able to produce an activity plan. We analyzed the contents of all assignment reports and found in the application of GIS to regional diagnosis that students had extended their understanding from direct how-to level to public health nurses’ activities. Future enhancement of continuity and further systematization in a series of public health nurse course curriculums are expected.
