Efficacy of brand and generic cefalexins on the treatment of superficial pyoderma were evaluated in 135 dogs. Forty dogs were prescribed a brand product and the terms of administration were 1 week in 16 (40.0%), 2 weeks in 13 (32.5%), 3 weeks in 7 (17.5%), and 4 weeks in 4 (10.0%). Ninety five dogs were prescribed generic products and the terms of administration were 1 week in 54 (56.9%), 2 weeks in 31 (32.6%), 3 weeks in 8 (8.4%), and 4 weeks in 2 (2.1%). From the results, it was considered that there was no significant difference in the efficacy on the treatment of canine superficial pyoderma between brand and generic cefalexins.
