We successfully treated 3 cases of canine dermatitis with jumihaidokuto (Jumihaidokuto, Tsumura Co, Tokyo). The patient dogs admitted to our veterinary hospital with a chief complaint of pruritus. Physical examination revealed erythematous skin lesions with alopecia in many areas of body surface. Parsistic diseases, fungal and bacterial infections, and contact or food allergy were excluded. These dogs were orally administrated with jumihaidokuto at 150mg/kg twice a day. After 2 weeks of treatment with jumihaidokuto, pruritus was almost disappeared and skin lesions were also recovering. Four weeks later, treatment was discontinued, because pururitus and skin lesions were disappeared in these patients. No side effects of jumihaidokuto were detected by physical and laboratory examination. These results indicated that some cases of canine pururitic dermatitis could be successfully treated with jumihaidokuto.
