With the influence of COVID-19, online education has attracted much attention. The practice of online education is increasing, and its effectiveness is being recognized. In terms of future issues are how to develop the possibility of online education in special needs education. We focused on “inclusive education” as one of the keywords for the development of online education. The basis of the inclusive education system is where students of all abilities learn together in the same classroom environment. It means students with and without disabilities. In that sense, the US system is helpful since US legally requires the provision of a standard education curriculum for children with a disability. In this paper, we explicate the possibility of online education in Japan in terms of the inclusive education system in the United States.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread around the world, significantly affecting competitive sports. This article introduces online mental support services in competitive sports during the coronavirus pandemic. The services include information dissemination regarding stress management and mental training, workshops, and individual counseling sessions using a web conference system. It was found that the use of online services allowed athletes and instructors to perceive mental support more accessible to them. However, one challenge for the future is determining what consideration should be given to those who are not accustomed to online services.

We tend to have difficulty finding child abuse and poverty, which threaten children’s lives. These issues can cause mental symptoms, violence, and absenteeism. The risk of these problems can increase under the outbreak of COVID-19. Since 2018, we have developed Yamano Osaka-Screening Sheet (YOSS), which enables early detection of the risk and prevent the aggravation of the problems by visualizing the actual situation of the support for children. The number of school truants has reduced to one third in a school with the system. We have promoted its use in primary and junior high schools with the help of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Japan (MEXT) from 2019. We seek to integrate this tool with artificial intelligence in the future. This article summarizes the contents of the system and makes a tentative analysis with the data of 2019.

The annual conference of JSiSE was held online for the first time on September 2–4, 2020. Since the “place” was different than usual conference, the Committee faces various issues. One of them is that we had to make decisions while the physical constraints of location were gone. Another issue is how to establish the communication and share intentions between committee members. This paper looks back these issues and describes how we solved these problems.
