Effect of bonding conditions on performances of anodically-bonded joints of SiC to glass was investigated. The shear fracture strength of the bond interface was increased with bonding temperature (523 K-613 K) and bonding time (300 s-1800 s), and reached ~5.7 MPa at the best.

Gas tungsten arc phenomena were observed systemtically by high-speed video. Effect of active flux on surface tension and metal flow conditions were analysed. Surface flow in helium shield was drastically changed by sulpher contents in SUS304. That in argon shield was not so changed, but shape and surface level were change much. Effect of shielding gas to deepen the penetration was also discussed.

The effect of Ce addition to a filler metal on microcracking in the multipass weld metal of alloy 690 was investigated in order to improve the microcracking susceptibility in it. The microcracking susceptibility in the reheated weld metal could be much improved by adding 0.015-0.025mass%Ce to the weld metal. The multipass welding test confirmed that microcracks in the multipass weldment were completely prevented by using the filler metal added 0.03mass%Ce.

The magnetic pressure welding is effective for lap joining of dissimilar sheet metals with different conductivities, for example, Al/Fe. Because the aluminum sheet with high conductivity is able to obtain sufficient energy from an electric circuit, this sheet is accelerated by a large electromagnetic force and collides with the fixed galvanized steel sheet. Both these surfaces can be clarified by the effect of the collision, and then joined with each other by the electromagnetic force generated in the aluminum sheet. In this report, we describe a principle of the pressure welding, a shearing tensile strength and a joined interface.
