The authors devised an apparatus for mesuring teeth-mobility, which was an application of a dial gauze used in precise mesurement in the technical field.
It can be called Freese's improving method, and this apparatus consisted of two trays, a prop and a dial gauze connected to the prop.
The authors were able to measure slight mobility from 1/100 mm to 5 mm.
Then the authors tried to measure the mobility of various kinds of tooth and obtained the following result: Mobilities in normal, slightly loosen, loosen in middle grade, and highly loosen teeth are about 0.15 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.6 mm to 2.5 mm respectively.
This apparatus can be operoted so simply, that it might be considered this is an ideal type as a meter of this kind.

Among orthodontic patients of 620 Japanese and 99 American and treated our clinic during three and a half years from 1947 to 1950, 432 Japanese and 50 Americans were chosen for this study because of its completeness of gnathostatic models and facial photographs.
In order to make Comparison of facial profile of these patients, the following measurements were made :
    1. Frcm gnathion to orbital plane.
    2. From corner of mouth to orbital plane.
    3. From ala nasi to orbital plane.
From the results of these measurements very interesting facial profiles, such as Fig. 2. were reproduced indicating very clearly the major differences between Japanese and Americans.

The authors statistically measured the “freeway space” (vertical dimension) which is the most important factor to estimate the height of the bite plate in case of bite-taking when we make the denture, especially the full denture.
Measurement was made by means of callipers vertical dimension of the central-incisor situation between the centric occlusion and the rest, when the patient seated at normal state in chair.
The results obtained are as follows:
In man (47 persons) mean value 1.5 m.m.
    woman (24 persons) 1.1 m.m.
    man and woman 1.4 m.m.
    maximum value 2.8 m.m.
    minimum value 0.5 m.m.

Clinico-pathological considerations were made in the summarized 226 cases of cancer of oral region which had visited the Clinic of Oral Surgery, Tokyo Medical and Dental University during twenty-two-year period since 1930 to 1951.
First, frequency of the occurence, etiologic factors, case history, clinical examinations, diagnosis, treatment and its result were discussed and the grade of clinical malignancy was determined on the basis of the stage and clinical progress of the lesion.
Secondly, histo-pathological examination was made in some cases and its relation-ship to the malignancy grade was discussed.

A 33-year-old woman showed interdental spaces in the area of lower anterior teeth. and had lost all lower molars as the result of socalled pyorrhoea alveoralis.
Applying a special denture combined orthodontic apparaturs (Fig.2), the author succeeded in removing every dental spaces during about two months (Fig.1 & 3) and at the same time restorated the molars, showing high efficiency of mastication. In addition to these advantages, favorable effects could be obtained upon the periodontal tissues of lower anterior teeth.

The author treated 34 cases of infected root canal with ammoniated Silver Oxide (AS) Iontophoresis. In order to prevent from the electrolysis of medicament in a root canal the non-polarisable electrode devised by Prof. Suzuki was used in all experiments instead of the conventional metal wire's electrode and consequently the more intensified effect of this therapy was obtained.
Three per cent ammoniated Silver Oxide solution was used as an electlyt.
Then the author obtained the following clinical results :
    (1) It need 1.1 times of treatment on the average with AS iontophoresis to secure the complete sterile state of these infected root canals, for there were 26 cases completely cured by only a single treatment and 4 cases by twice.
    (2) The total amount of current necessary to secure negative culture was 29 mA' in case of single root teeth and 32 mA' in multirooted teeth. Therefore average amount of current was 30 mA'.
    (3) After the first treatment slight irritations upon periodontia were seen in 5 of 30 cases but this disorders disappeared in 1 to 2 days. In spite of the rapid sterilization of root canal, AS iontophoresis had a little irritation upon periodontia. In the smear specimens, the degeneration of neutral leucocytes in the exudation of canal kept abreast with the clinical symptoms, and the favorable clinical progress could be noticed.
    (4) From the results obtained in (1) and (3) it has been confirmed that the iontophoresis was superior to any other topical root canal treatments.
