This paper reports on the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services provided by the Aoyama Psychological Development Counseling Center to various companies and organizations. The EAP is a system designed to support employeesʼ mental health through a dual approach focusing on both individual assistance and organizational development. In this practice, a wide range of support activities has been implemented, including individual counseling for employees with mental health difficulties, return-to-work support for those on sick leave, individual interviews for new employees, the administration of stress checks and follow-up interventions for high-stress individuals, as well as preventive seminars. Through these multifaceted efforts, the program aims to promote the primary prevention of mental health problems, prevent employee turnover, and improve workplace environments. The paper outlines the specific methods of these practices and discusses the significance of EAP in contributing to both corporate organizations and their employees.

This presentation examines outreach practices in clinical psychology through a mediation-oriented perspective, focusing on collaboration with legal professionals. When clients at a counseling center also face legal issues, support goes beyond referrals to lawyers. Clinical psychologists and attorneys may conduct joint interviews, facilitating dialogue and mutual understanding, while attorneys may also serve as mediators in family mediation involving conflicted family members. These practices highlight an approach that emphasizes relational coordination and non-adversarial problem-solving. The presentation discusses both the potential and the challenges of such interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex client needs.

Many clients experience psychological distress stemming from interpersonal or social issues, which are often intertwined with legal disputes; thus, legal and psychological problems are closely interrelated. This paper advocates the importance of collaboration between legal and psychological professionals and the provision of support from both perspectives in such cases. A shared understanding that balances psychological considerations with legal realities is essential for effective collaboration. While a lack of coordination between psychological and legal professionals may confuse clients, collaboration between lawyers and psychological professionals̶based on mutual respect for each otherʼs expertise̶enables more comprehensive and high-quality support.

The purpose of this study is to clarify research trends concerning “ reasonable accommodation ” in Japan. The subjects were academic papers published in CiNii Research whose titles included “reasonable accommodation.” AI text mining was used for analysis, and statistical comparisons of word occurrence ratios were performed. Academic publications containing “reasonable accommodation” in their titles were observed starting in 2002. The number peaked in 2016, declined through 2021, and showed a slight increase through 2024. First, the peak in academic publications in 2016 was considered related to the enactment and implementation of the Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities. Next, the decline in academic publications from 2016 to 2021 was considered related to a shift in focus from legal frameworks to practical reports, as well as the fact that some aspects of traditional reasonable accommodations had become more commonplace. The increase in academic presentations toward 2024 was thought to be due to renewed attention on “reasonable accommodations” following amendments to the Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities. Academic presentations with “ reasonable accommodations ” in their titles were thought to fluctuate in tandem with legal developments, subsequently shifting toward reports on practical implementation.

Objective: The implementation of the HPV vaccine in Japan has been met with both support and opposition. This study aims to clarify how the HPV vaccine is perceived on the social media platform YouTube. Methods: In Study 1, the content of YouTube videos from 2011 to 2021 was reviewed and categorized into three groups: supportive, opposing, and neutral. The number of videos in each category was then compared. In Study 2, comments on YouTube videos from 2013, 2015, and 2023 were analyzed using text mining techniques. Results: In Study 1, opposing content was more prevalent from 2011 to 2017. However, from 2018 to 2021, supportive content became more dominant, reversing the trend (χ2 = 50.23, p < .001). In Study 2, many negative comments in 2015 referred to concerns such as "life-changing" or "future being taken away." By 2023, comments reflected the influence of government campaigns, with phrases such as "available for free." Discussion: Media campaigns highlighting health damages caused by adverse vaccine reactions and government policies promoting proactive vaccine recommendations, including free vaccinations, had a significant impact on the content and comments of YouTube videos.

This paper considers the psychological interview process through a university counseling case in which the client discontinued psychotherapy after the third session. The client was gaining insight into their internal experiences, particularly concerning interpersonal relationships. The therapist initiated the intervention by addressing practical issues and gradually shifting focus to the clientʼs emotional experiences. Even though the therapist perceived progress, the sessions were ultimately discontinued. For the client, progressing with self-reflection in line with the therapistʼs expectations was perceived to be similar to the role they had played in their mother-child relationship. Additionally, expressing emotional responses to the therapist before sufficient trust had been established felt intrusive. These outcomes underscore the clinical significance of attending not only to the content of the client ʼ s narratives but also to potential discrepancies within the therapeutic relationship and to the need for responsive adjustments to the clientʼs level of self-reflection.

[Objective] The aim of this study was to clarify the characteristics of the "wishes" expressed by mothers of children with disabilities, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). [Method] The study analyzed communication notebooks written by nine mothers who had used a mother-child enrollment program in the past. The children were divided into two groups based on their disability type: the ASD group and the non-ASD group. The content of the entries from both groups was examined. Through quantitative and qualitative content analysis, the characteristics of hope and desire expressions in both groups were compared. [Results] Both groups expressed "mother's hopes" frequently, while "mother's desires" were less common. This difference was especially notable in the ASD group. [Discussion] It is important to provide empathetic support for mothers of children with disabilities, building on a warm parent-child relationship, while helping them overcome immediate challenges. It is crucial to offer long-term perspectives and support, enabling them to hold onto hope for the future for mothers of children with ASD.
