    The vacuum cleaner market is mature, but the products themselves still leave consumers dissatisfied in diverse ways. Rather than rely on a technological breakthrough to solve these issues, the development of a desirable easy-to-use vacuum cleaner was undertaken, with new product concepts spearheaded by the design department. Specifically, the vacuum cleaner itself was given a round shape and, by providing a turntable as a rotating mechanism, turning was greatly improved. Moreover, the round form blends into living spaces without any sense of incompatibility, and because the hose can be wrapped around the body for storage, the vacuum cleaner can be located anywhere in the living space. This allows vacuuming to start immediately and makes the task a lot easier. Development shared with the engineering department the theme of developing a vacuum cleaner based on clear concepts and included verifications to ensure acceptance by target users.
