This document considers the relation between haptic sense and the entertainment. By exemplif- ing the iPhone, we describe the importance of the interface technology. The key technology to combine the real world, human and the virtual world together is the interface technology. Here many types of interfaces are made by using haptics. Though the use of haptics is limited to input devices. Essentially the haptic itself is a bidirectional sense, called \active touch." So the output device is also important. Furthermore, correspondence of input and output is the ¯nal goal of haptic device, which is an interface technology for entertainment.

The interactive retrieval of information and emotional designing were considered as the entertainment elements for online system, and were implemented in an e-Learning system which was based on Topic Maps. We developed an application of multi-choice drills for introductory dynamics equipped with relaxation mode and focus mode. The relaxation mode provided a positive feeling for learner using characters, and the focus mode of solving a drill provided tension in a short time period. Also, a course-centric e-Learning system for introductory physics was changed into content-centric system with an exploratory map portal that showed relations among subjects together with the individual learning records. Further, in order to let learners explore more actively, the system was extended to a wide range of the field of science, daily life, environmental issues etc. by the use of Topic Maps.

Agent-Based Modeling (ABM) is a cutting-edge technique to understand various social phenomena. ABM focuses from global phenomena to individuals in the model and tries to observe how individuals with individual characteristics or "agents" will behave as a group. However, the importance of the modeling methodology has not been common yet even in the academic convergent technology societies. The paper discusses the principles, strength, and weakness of ABM. The paper also describes the role of simulation sciences in social system domains and how ABM should be a new standard of such analysis.

This presentation argues about the usefulness of social psychological approaches on further development of service innovation. Social psychologists have revealed in a multi-faceted way a variety of deficits and shortcomings of human information processing, social communication as well as group decision making. The author insists that, in order for overcoming these problems, two types of social engineering should be introduced. One is "social affordance" approach, which creates affordance (or engineered structure of communication/ work environment) for human behavior/ decision making to be able to naturally avoid/overcome the problems. The other is "Mieru-ka" (obtaining "birds-eyes views") approach, which enables product/ service diffusion to be more predictable via the hybrid technology of special survey method of detecting word-of-mouth and of simulation of social networks.

This paper proposed methods to elicit cognitive competencies for disaster nursing from the result of content analysis of interview data. One method focuses on cognitive process in disaster nursing activities from the view point of the transitions among the primitive cognitive steps: "Information (perception)", "Decision Making", and "Action Execution". The other method is based on a natural language processing technique and focuses on subjects in perception. Both methods visualize the analysis results and could help the analysts to find patterns and characteristics behind them. These methods were applied to the results of content analysis of the interviews with nurses who exhibited high performance in actual earthquake disasters. Some patterns and characteristics in the transitions of cognitive steps specific to disaster nursing tasks were observed. Also the visualization of the nouns in the "Information" category referred in an interview revealed to some extent attention or concerns of the nurse under the disaster situation. These methods are expected to contribute to the study of cognitive human factors for disaster nursing.

To solve current social problems, manufacturers need to supply service rather than materialized products to consumers. We have been proposing a novel engineering paradigm to deal with services, service engineering. We define services as a state change. A service model consists of three sub-models: scope model, view model and flow model. A computer-aided design tool, called Service Explorer, is developed to represent a network of the parameters and determines the influence weight one another.

In this paper, we discuss service model and two values to be achieved through IT services, "Objective Value", user's target goal achieved by using IT services, and "Functional Value", brought by IT services. Although there is value chain between the two, it remains separated because of unawareness of the chain. Then actual IT project for small medium enterprise will be introduced and we demonstrate that AGILE development harmonized with MUSE is a practical and effective method for realizing objective value in short period, low cost, and steady way.

In this paper, the finding of the marketing theory is introduced into a business efficiency evaluation approach, and the establishment of the service optimum design method is tried. One of the characteristics of ser-vices is inseparability, that is, services cannot be separated from the service providers. This means the process that corresponds to the quality control, production management, and SCM in manufacturing becomes harmoniously integral in the service industry. Then, the DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) that is a business efficiency evalua-tion method is applied. In the method A service corporation model is proposed. It is given service structure ele-ments as inputs and has items of the service perception quality as outputs. After the service structure elements of a typical social infrastructure are analyzed, the problem of the water service efficiency improvement by extending management area is taken up as a case study, and the applicability of the method is examined.

During the post-approval period, hypotheses about potentially new adverse drug reactions (ADR) have traditionally emerged from passive surveillance systems based on spontaneous case reports of suspected adverse drug reactions. With signal detection by traditional (or manual) methods, quantitative methods used on the spontaneous reporting system databases were introduced since the end of 1990's in order to detect serious ADR early as possible. In FY 2009, the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Device Agency introduced the quantitative methods (data mining method) used on Japanese SRS database to safety measures operations. This presentation introduces the recent situation about signal detection of adverse drug reactions.

This paper first discusses how originators obtains innovative solution by utilizing their "submerged knowledge". In two cases I pointed that "knowledge" which was considered irrelevant at the very beginning of the ordinal way of thinking later had worked as the key factor and successfully help emerging innovative ideas. That "irrelevant" knowledge usually comes through "weak ties" and worked as the starter of analogical way of thinking. I also pointed a company established internal submerged system for innovation, which emphasized the importance of "irrelevant" information. Secondly I commented on "Innovation Game" proposed by Y.Osawa .I think this "Game" has certain significance to emerge new ideas, because, this game forces all participants disclose their knowledge, whether it looks relevant or irrelevant, and been involved into the innovation vending system.

Preference is one of the major factors which in uence one's decision-makings. I present a method to assist one in becoming aware of one's implicit preference. The preference diagram is drawn from the subjects' answers of questionnaires with an improved variant of Data Crystallization. Data Crystallization is an algorithm to explore latent structures with the introduction of dummy variables. The diagram visualizes the relationships and empty spaces between elements, and prompts one's constructive cognition. Innovation can be fostered if consumers can propose their needs to providers explicitly after understanding their implicit preferences.

For decision making, it is essential to create valuable scenarios and choose the most beneficial one to execute. However, this is not a pure creation but a process to sense, evaluate, act, and measure the value. In order to externalize values underlying events, computational tools and humans' thoughts/collaborations should be coupled in a spiral to mine and release latent dynamics.

Yodogawagaku is one of the practical projects concerning the education for sustainable development (ESD) in higher education, aiming at acquisition of attitudes towards environmental symbiosis in our engineering education program. It also includes some attempts spreading a mind of ESD to whole faculty members. Especially, the Yodogawagaku offers two subjects entitled "The Yodo River and Human Beings" and "The Yodo River and Environment" for freshpersons and sophomore classes, respectively, since 2008. The Yodogawagaku additionally furnishes our undergraduate courses with basal contents accessible to the environmental symbiosis. We can check the diffusion of ESD mind to the faculty by an increase of the numbers of graduation theses containing key terms relating to ESD within their titles.

International coastal cleanup campaign by The Ocean Conservancy differs from traditional cleanups, because participants not only collect marine debris but also count them based on common global criteria. ICC enables to work on the problem of marine debris based on the data, then, it is socially significant activity. JEAN (coordinator of the campaign in Japan) holds domestic campaign in spring or makes original report about Japanese data and so on to promote and coordinate many volunteers to participate in the campaign in many beaches in Japan. In 2004, a mail out survey conducted on the participants of ICC in Suma beach. The purpose of this survey was to clarify the effect of information provision and communication in ICC on gaining empowerment. The more they understood the results and social influence of the campaign and so on, the more they gained personal and collective empowerments.
