In quantitative text analysis, sentence features can be extracted based on statistical methods of types of character, word lengths, and morpheme information and so on that contained in sentences. We have been developing a system for the purpose of providing useful feedback for writing papers from the viewpoint of technical writing based on the results of quantitative text analysis of technical papers. In this paper, we propose the following methods: 1) Compare the quantitative analysis results of the text before and after correction, 2) Give points to keywords such as technical terms and evaluate the whole text, 3) Provide feedback on text corrections. And we also discuss the results of the evaluation experiment and future work.

We are developing a frailty detection system with the aim of improving the QOL of elderly people. In order to determine whether the person is frail or not, a grip force meter or a walking speedometer are oftenused, but these detection instruments are independent from each other and not cooperative. Therefore, it is necessary to construct an efficient system by letting these instruments cooperate. In addition, we are developing a grip force meter and plan to use it in this system. We explain this system and grip strength meter.

We have been researching subjective evaluation experiments using Visual Analog Scale (VAS). VAS has the advantage of expressing subjectivity more intuitively. In this paper, we report an attempt of the subjective evaluation related to human lightness sense as fundamental research on what kind of color sense human has. We used VAS to obtain answers on where each gray image with different lightness corresponds to on the grayscale. Numeric values obtained by this evaluation experiment were analyzed to confirm the characteristics of the sensitivity of the individual. Moreover, at the same time, it was examined whether the VAS accurately reflected the subjective view of the person by the answer of what percentage of the grayscale was by the numeric value input. In order to conduct experiments smoothly, we developed an app that can perform VAS measurement and numeric value input simultaneously. We presented ten grayscale images to 13 subjects and obtained subjective measurements using this app. It was confirmed that when the lightness of the grayscale image is high, it can be recognized relatively accurately, but when the lightness is low, it tends to feel darker.

This paper discusses that the impressions of three pieces of sounds based on Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results show that subjective evaluation values based on the impression (ex. “happy”, “sad”, “bright”, “dark”, and so on) of three test pieces have been obtained and visualized by a combination of boxand-whisker plot and univariate scatter plot. In addition, it has been discovered that the difference of the impression by the different sounds can be expressed. Moreover, it has also discovered that the questions based on the similar impression belong to the same cluster.

The use of rubrics was recommended in the report of the Central Education Council published in March 2012, “To a university that will continue to learn throughout its life in difficult to predict and develop the ability to think independently”. It has been pointed out that it is necessary to examine how to disseminate and share specialized knowledge related to research, development and evaluation. The author has created own rubric specializing in university mathematics in collaboration with Professors Y. Hayashi (Musashino University) and T. Nikami (Kogakuin University) and implemented it in face-to-face and full-on-demand university mathematics lectures. In this paper, we show the difference in the rubric results due to the difference in the teaching style.

We investigate the daily share prices of the Nikkei 225 stock market index to identify jump times of the stock index using a jump diffusion model, which consists of the Black-Scholes model with stochastic volatility and a compound Poisson process. Since the data of daily share prices of the Nikkei 225 stock index are observed at discrete times, it is difficult to find real jump times from the data. In this paper, we consider how to separate jump times from the observed times. The volatility of the stock index is estimated by the historical volatility from the observation of daily share prices. We also refer to the number of daily share prices for historical volatility and show that the number is essential for the accuracy of identifying of jump times.

We have been studying a framework for sequence of nodes in Fuzzy Graph. We proposed a new method ‘Fuzzy Core Index Method’ based on fuzzy core value. The fuzzy core index method enables us to convert a fuzzy graph with a partially ordered structure into a graph with a fully ordered structure. The advantage of the proposed method is that the sequence of nodes can be analysed even if the relationship of the analysis object does not satisfy the transition law. By the way, all nodes have been treated as equivalent so far, this time, we propose a method of sequencing analysis that gives weights to nodes.

In general, this ordering structure may be a partially ordered set. We proposed a new method ‘Fuzzy Core Index Method’ based on the fuzzy core value. The advantage of the proposed method is that the sequence of nodes can be analyzed even if the relationship of the analysis object does not satisfy the transition law. A method of 3-D shape recovery employing uncalibrated cameras is described. Three-dimensional shape recovery has long been studied to date and has various application fields. An established method for 3-D shape recovery is based on stereo cameras which necessitates camera calibration in advance. In this paper, a 3-D shape recovery method by uncalibrated cameras is presented, which ranges from the recovery of partial shape of an object to its entire shape. One of the main advantages of the present method is that the shape recovery is not restricted to a video capture site such as a studio, if only videos are able to be taken by cameras.

Recently, research and development on automatic operation and factory automation have been actively conducted. It is considered that support robots working in living environments closely related to humans need to recognize and predict human actions and movements from the information obtained using sensors such as cameras from the viewpoint of safety and cooperation. In this paper, we propose a method for predicting human motion using posture information and motion information obtained from video images. In conventional dimensionality reduction using deep learning and encoding and principal component analysis, there is a drawback that it is difficult to know how valid the reduced dimension is for motion prediction. In this paper, we solve this shortcoming by using motion representation and predicting while maintaining the spatial relationship. Experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In recent years, the labor shortage has become a serious problem in logistics industries. In particular, among the five major functions of logistics, most of the storage and cargo handling operations are performed manually using forklifts. This problem can be solved by automating the process. In this paper, we propose a method to acquire the position of cargo from the images taken by two fixed cameras in a warehouse and the relative distance information between a transport vehicle and the cargo using the camera attached to the vehicle. Currently, artificial humeral head is designed primarily by scaling the average shape of anatomical data. It causes a problem that the range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder is limited with the artificial shoulder joint. Improvement of similarity of artificial shoulder joint with actual one may increase the ROM. For the purpose, we previously proposed a method for constructing a statistical shape model (SSM) of the humeral head that represents the inter-individual variation of the humeral head shape using principal component analysis (PCA). In this study, we propose a method to quantitatively evaluate inter-individual variation of humeral head shape by means of shape analysis on the statistical model of humeral head. Firstly, shape analysis is applied to the constructed SSM in order to evaluate inter-individual variation of the humeral head. Next, we evaluate the reproducibility of individual artificial shoulder by the SSM. The experimental results showed that it was possible to grasp the shape characteristics of the group of subjects, and it was possible to find new shape features that were not obtained by the conventional studies with measurement of the subject shape.

This paper describes the relation between relative position of peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC)in vein and thrombus generation around it. In this study, it is assumed that the contact of catheter on the vein wall causes thrombus formation due to change of flow filed. In the first step, the thrombus formation process was visualized by using a vascular model. As a result, a thrombus was found around a catheter at 240 s in case of 0 ml/h flow of the intravenous feeding, but in case of 20ml / h it takes 480 s. Then the flow rate of PIVC was changed from 20 ml / h to 0ml / h with the stepwise reduction. It was found that thrombus was increasing on the catheter circumference. In the next step, in order to investigate the effects of flow rate of PIVC on the flow field, CFD analysis around the catheter in the infantile vein was done. The results show that there are low shear rate regions, low velocity regions, and long retention time region near the area of catheter’s contact. By using the proposed evaluation value of thrombus formation with strain rate and retention time. It was concluded that feeding flow rate of PIVC is sensitive to thrombus formation rate, and the high flow rate of PIVC has low risk for thrombus formation.

It is needless to say that the most fundamental problem is the diagnosis in psychiatry. In this paper, we discuss the proper problem of this law. That is to say, the law cannot treat the mentally –handicapped persons who do not response to the present treatment in modern psychiatry. But most of these patients are forced to be administered in the psychiatric hospital nevertheless of no response to treatment. This situation is a very severe problem. .

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an exercise on the people with autism spectrum disorder using the NeuCube spiking neural network (SNN) architecture. We collected EEG patterns during perception and imitation of facial expressions for each emotion. Comparing the collected data in perceiving and mimicking facial expressions, EEG patterns of typically developed person were very similar. This fact suggest that it seems that there are mirror neurons on facial expression in the human brain. Recently, some studies have been reported that mirror neuron system does not work well in the case of subjects with brain disorders. In this paper, we observed mirror neurons during normal perception and imitation of facial expressions in typically developed subjects (TP), ASD subjects who exercise regularly (ASDe), and ASD subjects who don't exercise regularly (ASDn). As a result of experiments, we confirmed the mirror neuron activities of ASDe subjects tend to be close to ones of TP subjects compared to ones of ASDn subjects. The results in the experiments imply the effects of regular exercise on autism spectrum disorder.

Thermal conductivity (λ) and thermal diffusivity (α) of hen egg white lysozyme (HEWL) were measured at the temperatures between 282.1 and 294.9 K with a transient short-hot wire method. The obtained λ and α were evaluated by the method of the Kruskal-Wallis test. In addition, the effect of anisotropy on the properties was statistically examined by the analysis of covariance. The magnetically orientated HEWL crystals were realized by the magneto-Archimedes effect at 4.0 T. The randomly grown crystals were conducted by the two-liquid method. As the results, the presence of the anisotropy on the thermal properties was found to be significant on the HEWL crystals.

The venous pressure is monitored to detect needle dislodgement during dialysis treatment. On the other hand, there is a previous study that venous pressure is not effective enough to detect dislodgement of indwelling needles. Therefore, we examined whether the venous pressure monitoring is effective for detecting the withdrawal of the needle using the result of measuring the dynamic pressure change in the experimental circuit. As a result, if the patient's intravascular pressure was not more than 25 mmHg, it was considered that the could not be detected even if the needle dislodgment occurred. Almost of Japanese dialysis patients (89.7%) have a blood vessel used for dialysis called Arteriovenous Fistula (AVF). Since there was a previous study that the intravascular pressure of AVF was 32.6 ± 23.5 mmHg, Therefore, it was considered that needle dislodgment could not be detected sufficiently by venous pressure monitoring.

Smartphone was equipped with the function equal to a PC and has become an indispensable tool in the information society. In particular, many people are using it as entertainment tools such as video viewing, communication applications, and game applications while moving. There are many people using smartphone while walking on a platform or a street because they are enthusiastic about the application and cannot be interrupted. For this reason, many accidents have occurred due to the use smartphone while walking, and have been alerted not to use smartphone while walking. However, smartphone use while walking does not decrease at all. In this report, we examined the risk of using a smartphone while walking, based on changes in perception. In the experiment, we measured the effective visual field when standing without using a smartphone, standing with a smartphone, walking without using a smartphone, and walking with a smartphone. As the result, it was shown that the effective visual field was 45-56% narrower when using a smartphone than when not using a smartphone in both standing and walking. Thus, when using a smartphone, it is meant that it isn't possible to notice the changes in surrounding circumstances. Therefore, it was shown that using a smartphone while walking was dangerous.

This paper describes on elucidation of the mechanism for underwater locomotion of a neutrophil toward the inflammation part. In our previous investigations, there are oscillation of concentration gradient on the membrane of neutrophil when it is moving toward the direction of higher concentration. It is necessary to find out the reason why the neutrophil is continuing to move under the concentration gradient. In this paper, the mathematical model of driving force by surface tension gradient. To establish the model, it is assumed that the surface tension depends on the concentration and temperature. It is found that the velocity by this oscillation depend on the amplitude of concentration gradient and period of oscillation. In this investigation, the mathematical model of driving force by oscillation of concentration gradient was established, and it will be confirmed by the experiment of microscopic observation of concentration gradient.

Kohonen's LVQ (Learning vector quantization) is a method for classification. LVQ does not require a normal distribution of data. On the other hand, the multivariate discriminant analysis method is based on a normal distribution of data. If data is not normally distributed, LVQ could have a better accuracy. Parameter setting such as the number of codebook vectors is arbitrary for LVQ. It is an advantage but could be a disadvantage oppositely. In this study, we report the comparison of Multivariate analysis and LVQ analysis.

When the data is normally distributed, there is almost no difference between the results of LVQ and multivariate discriminant analysis method. A multivariate discriminant analysis is a linear discrimination method. On the other hand, LVQ is a nonlinear discrimination one. When data is largely out of the normal distribution, good recognition result is obtained for LVQ. In this study, we compared LVQ with multivariate discriminant analysis for wine data. The property and usefulness of LVQ is shown in this report.

The computer vision involves many modeling problems with preventing noise caused by sensing units such as cameras. In order to improve computer vision system performance, a robust modeling technique must be developed for essential models in the system. The RANSAC and least median of squares (LMedS) algorithm have been widely applied for such issues. However, the performance deteriorates as the noise ratio increases and the modeling time for algorithms tends to increase in industrial applications. As an effective technique, we proposed a new fuzzy LMedS method based on reinforcement learning concept for robust modeling. In this study, we proposed a new technique for the fuzzy LMedS in order to improve learning performance in initial learning stage based on weighted estimation model. Through experiments of camera homography modeling, the performance of the technique was evaluated. Their results found the proposed technique to be promising for improving modeling performance in the initial learning stage.

Recently, recurrent neural networks have been widely used in many fields. Bone marrow transplants are a standard treatment for leukemia disease data. Recovery following bone marrow transplantation is a multistate process. The bootstrapping for the recurrent neural network is introduced when selecting the optimum number of hidden units and testing the goodness-of-test. We can predict the probability of surviving during the course of the disease with better accuracy than feed-forward neural networks, partial logistic models.

The decline in students' reading comprehension is a hot topic. Noriko Arai has proposed a unique indicator called RST (Reading Skill Test) for evaluating text reading comprehension and has evaluated it in six fields. In addition, in beginner programming exercises, there are many students who are expected to be unable to do programming tasks because they cannot read the problem sentence. However, although it can be judged that programming problems cannot be made, the reason why programming is not possible has not been deeply pursued. Therefore, we propose reading comprehension indicators with reference to the indicators of RST, and classify students into multiple types based on the indicators. It is expected that the learning effect will be enhanced by preparing multiple question sentences according to the classified student type and letting students tackle the programming tasks that match them. It is costly to make several kinds of question sentences for the same task, but the learning effect is assumed to increase.

In this paper, (1) the extraction of the white line regions and the location of the white line on the coordinate system of the road plane are treated. (2) the extraction of the straight lines and (3) the parallelism of the car and the white lines is also mentioned. To get the image of the road environment, the drive recorder DC-DR410 produced COMTEC Co. and a car named “Rush” produced Toyota Co. The roads used to get data are “TOMEI” highway, “SHUTOKOU” and General roads.

In this study, a simple dummy model was created. Then, the collision result of the human body dummy doll was compared with the result of the collision simulation. As a result, the head acceleration has an error of 11%. The cause is thought to be because the dummy doll has a simple structure on the head. However, large errors occurred in the chest and waist. The cause is ribs on the chest. It is considered that the waist is caused by the way the shock is transmitted.
