    Commissioning a test beamline in KEK Photon Factory Advanced Ring (PF-AR), which is operated by the energy of 6.5 GeV and 5.0 GeV, is proceeded in cooperation with the KEK Institute for Particle and Nuclear Studies (IPNS) to use electron beams in the GeV-range for the development of detectors in particle physics experiments. The electron can be obtained from gamma rays emitted by collisions between the halo of a stored electron beam in PF-AR, and a wire target using a copper converter to electron–positron pair creation. A yielded monochromatic electron beam is guided to the test area by quadrupole magnets and a bending magnet on the test beamline. The trial of long-user operation with top-up injection was completed in the fall of 2022.

    We successfully measured semiconductor soft error cross sections at continuously varying neutron energies from 10 meV to 800 MeV, where measurements have not previously been made. The findings reveal, for the first time, a complete picture of the energy dependence of semiconductor soft errors. Taking countermeasures against soft errors, which are malfunctions caused by cosmic rays (solar flares and radiation from galaxies), is essential for electronic devices that support our current social infrastructures. Elucidating the soft error cross section for different neutron energies is of prime importance for studying such countermeasures. Going forward, further developments of soft error countermeasures based on these results will lead to safer and more secure social infrastructures.

    The 14th International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC23) was held in Venice, Italy from May 7 to 12, 2023. The conference was accommodated in the Venice Convention Centre, as a fully in-person event. IPAC is known as one of the main international events for the worldwide accelerator community and industry. More than 1,600 delegates and about 80 industry exhibits presented new ideas, important results and cutting-edge technologies in the field of particle accelerator science and technology. This report introduces highlights of new facilities and upgrade plans of present accelerators, along with the overview of beam dynamics, instrumentations and accelerator applications. The IPAC23 presentation materials and proceedings are preliminary released at https://www.ipac23.org/preproc/index.html. Accurate information and details on the topics of interests might be found there.
