The purpose of the present study was to develop exercise-specified subjective health and physical scale for the frail elderly. In the study Ⅰ,194 frail elderly people (80.6±7.7 years) administered the developed 26 items of exercise-specified subjective health status scales. Ninety nine of them answered the same scales after 14 days. With factor analysis (GFI=.92, CFI=.90, RMSEA=.06), the scale was consisted of 3 factors: perceived physical condition (6 items), satisfaction with daily life (4 items), and psychological well-being (4 items). Internal consistency were α=.61-.79. Test-retest reliability were r=.59-.64. In all subscales, the scores in those who exercised regularly were significantly higher than those in non-exerciser. In the study Ⅱ, the responsiveness of the scale was examined with 35 participants (77.6±6.2 years) of exercise programs. After the programs, perceived physical condition was significantly improved. These results indicate that validity, reliability, and a part of responsiveness of the newly developed scale were accepted.

The present study aims at analyzing what factors are affecting on continuation will and satisfaction of the elderly who are enjoying music activities as a serious leisure. Participants were selected from music activity clubs, who responded to self-administered questionnaire. Social support was classified into nine categories; Consultation, Evaluation, Encouragement, Instruction, Freedom, Stimulation, Remarks, Goals, and Information. Three support scales were developed from those nine categories and satisfaction of receiving supports was measured. Results are as follows; support satisfaction relates with continuation will and satisfaction of activities, and factors relating with the continuation will and satisfaction are self-evaluation of the music skills, several kinds of individual supports and sense of receiving support. Among various supports, expressive-type support is much more relative to continuation will and satisfaction of activities than instrumental-type support.

The present study examined factors associated with decline in activity level at home among elderly day service facility users. The participants were 82 day service facility users who consented participation in the survey (male: 36, female: 39, unknown: 7). Overall, 82.1% users declined their activity levels at home compared with the day service facility. The participants who decreased their activity level at home (DG) were significantly lower activity level than the not decreased group (NDG). Significant difference was found between DG and NDG with respect to stages of behavior change (P<0.01), self-efficacy level (P<0.05), and complacence of implements (P<0.02). In logistic models, significantly associated with the activity levels at home were stages of behavior change and complacence of implement. These results suggest that the way, which takes into account of complacence of implements and stages of behavior change, is important to increase the activity level at home among the day service facility users.
