By Applying Caushy-Schwartz inequality to discrete Fourier transform we derive uncertainty principle of discrete time signal. The inequality of the obtained uncertainty principle holds with equality sign if the discrete time signal has an upward or a downward convex Gauss spectrum. The lower bound of uncertainty principle for discrete time signal is not constant.

This paper proposes a new adaptive filter algorithm for system identification using independent component analysis (ICA). A nonparametric Parzen window density estimator and the stochastic information gradient are used. The local convergence condition is shown. Some simulation results have been carried out to show its superiority to the conventional NLMS algorithm.

The new spectral analysis method in time-frequency domain was proposed by authors. Here, we performed spectral analysis of vowel from low frequency to high frequency by using the proposed method, and performed speach recognition of the vowel of unspecified speakers in each frequencies. A vowel is a wave with th periodicity which mainly consists of a fundamental and harmonics. Vocal sound /i/ has few harmonics, and subsequently the number of harmonics increases in order of /u/,/e/,/o/ and /a/. However, the feature of vowel is not so simple as dependent by only the number of harmonics. For example, /i/ and /u/ are well alike and we can not seprate /i/ and /u/ by the number of harmonics. Then we introduced the concept of the accumulation wave which made the some vowel spectrums accumulate according to frequency, and tried separatin of vowels.

In the farm of sea bream fry, the selecting of the fry shape is operated by manual labor. There are many problems on the selecting quality, because the shape judgments for selecting are depend on human sense of beauty. We developed an automatic selecting machine for the shape of live sea bream fry. This paper presents pattern analyzing method for the shape of bream fry and the construction of the automatic selecting machine.

The success of restoring motion blurred images highly depends on precise identification of PSF parameters, i.e. motion direction and motion length. In this paper we employ Cepstral analysis and Radon transform to identify these parameters in noiseless blurred image. To restore the blurred image, we apply inverse filter to the blurred image. Finaly, experimental results show our proposed method for real blurred image taken by camera and for artificially blurred image.

A Genetic Algorithm (GA) based reactive scheduling method has been proposed to modify the pre-determined schedules when operation delay occurs, in the previous research. The reactive scheduling method is extended, in the present research, to deal with the situation that the operation delay is detected just after the operation finishes.

Uncertainties of operation time in manufacturing processes are not considered in the conventional scheduling problems, however the operation time may have some uncertainty and distributions for the case of the manual operations and the long distance transportations. An approximation method is proposed in the paper to estimate the distributions of the finish time of all the operations in the scheduling results, based on the mean values and the standard deviations of the operation time.
