The performance of an existing sliver weight control system can be assessed, like in many other control systems, by measuring the response of the control system to a given input signal.
The authors discuss the frequency response method of testing in which sinusoidal displacements were given to the measuring roll of the control system and the resulting sinusoidal changes in the speed of the front roll were recorded together with the given input signal by means of a recording oscillograph.
