Recently, in the field of machine tool, measuring instrument, robot, medical industry, information processing and so on, many miniature structures are used for high precision or many functions. When machine structure becomes small, the influence of the surface area becomes larger than that of the volume. For example, in case of micro-machine, the mass becomes small in proportion to the cube of length, but the surface area of the machine becomes small in proportion to the square. Thus, frictional force or air resistance which is strongly influenced by surface area becomes the factor of the unstable behavior. And the contact pressure between the small sliding surface and the base surface becomes gradually low, then adhesive force suddenly occurrs, at last coefficient of friction between both the surfaces becomes very large because of the adhesive force. In this study, application of a crater which is manufactured by a YAG laser is investigated for reducing the adhesive force. On the other hand, machining of a hole using a YAG laser has a large problem ; when the crater was manufactured by the YAG laser, a mountain with ring shape on the machining surface is also manufactured, the machining accuracy of the hole becomes bad condition because of the mountain. However, in this study, we used the mountain with the ring for reducting the adhesive force. In the experiment, effects of the mountain with the ring were examined regarding coefficient of friction, in addition, life of the mountain was investigated. It was concluded from the results that ; (1) coefficient of friction was reduced by the mountain with the ring, (2) the mountain was hard and its life was long.
