著者の一人である正本は日本の代表的な化学会社である旭化成に勤務していた。そこではGEがプラスチックの分野で、世界ナンバーワンあるいはナンバーツーの強力な製品群を持っていること目の当たりにしてきた。ウェルチにみる経営戦略は、入社間もなき若き頃に打ち込んだプラスチック事業現場での成功体験が基本となっている。伸びる事業領域・魅力的な事業領域に選択と集中およびM & Aで進出する。そこでは、ナンバーワン、またはナンバーツー戦略、ワークアウト、シックスシグマ等の方法論で競争力を強めている。大きな会社の強みを活かしながら、小さな会社のようにすばやく動くことである。企業内教育でリーダーの育成を行い、多様な事業群をGE価値観の共有化で統一し、全体最適化をはかっている。

Innovations may be categorized according to the visibility of the dimensions of values they provide. Innovations have been conventionally understood as progressive processes along a few, objectively defined dimensions of values. Competition there meant how to go faster than rivals along those dimensions. While this concept of the innovation is effective as long as much room for such progress exists, it will eventually reach a technological or cognitive limit, and then innovative products turn to commodities. In order to gain and sustain competitive advantage, a new understanding of the innovation on an invisible dimension is needed. The paper presents a conceptual framework for examining a new paradigm for the innovation along an invisible dimensions.

Starting a company and sustaining its operations to achieve performance gains is no easy feat. There are companies that fail and those that grow into large corporations. What strategies and management policies do successful companies have? This study aims to elucidate the characteristics of management strategies of IT companies listed on the Mothers (Growth Market ) market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange (2013). Understanding the strategies of successful companies in the Mothers market, which serves as a market for emerging companies, allows us to explore the factors behind their success. In this study, we conducted interviews with the management of particularly successful IT companies within the Mothers market to explore their management strategies and features. The factors identified by the executive management as critical to success include: ① Capturing a niche market and Differentiating products, ② Business transformation through M&A, ③ The importance of human resources within the company, ④ Adherence to management ethics, ⑤ maintaining a robust financial foundation, and ⑥ The Importance of Sales and Marketing.

　フランチャイズ組織の存在理由について，新たな視角から考察する．本稿では，フランチャイズ組織がモジュラー型と統合型の2タイプにモデル的に分類しうることを提起し，モジュラー型フランチャイズ組織においては，本部だけでなく，加盟店が開発行為の一翼を担っている事実に注目する．現在，フランチャイズ組織は，このような分権的進化の仕組みを内包するモジュラー型と，進化の主な担い手が本部である統合型とが併存する状態にある．本稿は，フランチャイズ組織の垂直分離的な性格が強く表れるモジュラー型の理解を通じて，システムのダイナミックな進化の観点からみたフランチャイズ組織の存在理由を主張する．

日本企業のインフラ事業への関与は、主としてEPC(設計,調達,建設)から始まったが、部材輸出、機材輸出ではスマイルカーブの底辺でのビジネスであり利が薄く、システム輸出、インフラ事業の運営が求められている。政府の成長戦略でも、この点が重要な柱となっている。然るに、インフラ事業は、潜在的に政府干渉リスクの高い分野であり、しかも、日本企業は欧米のメージャーに比較して後発である。新興国企業の台頭も近年著しい。こうした背景のなか日本企業が海外とくに新興国でのインフラ事業を今後中長期にみて、収益の柱としていくための成功要因について探求した。その際、必要な政府のサポート、オールジャパンの外交的支援があり、さらに、技術力、価格競争力、運営のノウハウ、グローバルな人材管理能力の面については、必要な経営資源が備わっているという前提でまずは考察した。まず、先行研究、国際機関の報告、事例から成功要因を探った。これと並行して作業仮説を立て、代表的な商社等からヒアリングを実施した。次に、この結果抽出された成功要因について、仮説とそれに付随する系、対立仮説に整理してこれらの日本企業に対して調査表を配布・回収し、その妥当性についての数量的評価を得て、同時に仮説・命題間の相対的な重要度の評価を求めた。また、同調査表を欧米の海外投資専門家・有識者に対して送付し、日本企業・組織からの回答と違いがあるかを考察した。この結果、成功要因として、新興国のインフラ事業の特性の認識がその前提として重要であり、リスク、開発効果を十分に斟酌すべきこと、事業実施前、実施後のリスクマネジメント能力獲得が通常のビジネスの成功要因とみられる技術力、価格競争力、グローバル人材管理能力に優って重要な成功要因であることが判明した。その他では、海外専門家との対比で、日本企業ではローカル・パートナー活用が特に重視されていること、高収益事業の回避傾向がそれほど強くないことなどの特徴が明らかになった。

本稿では、いわゆる「アーキテクチャの産業論」が予想する命題、すなわち「統合型ものづくり」（Integration-based Manufacturing）の組織能力を戦後において構築してきた多くの日本企業は「擦り合わせ型」（Integral Architecture）の製品と相性が良く、したがって日本の純輸出財の多くは相対的に「擦り合わせ型」である、という命題の背後にある設計プロセスの論理を考察する。具体的には、設計の問題を「連立方程式の解の探索」という単純化されたプロセスに置き換え、日本企業は試行錯誤的な解の探索において他国企業より相対的に効率的である、という仮定のもとで、なぜ日本企業が「擦り合わせ製品」において「設計費用」の比較優位（リカード的な意味における）を確立する可能性が高いのかを、簡単な思考実験によって分析する。また、試行錯誤だけでなく体系的な科学知識にも依存する非常に複雑な擦り合わせ製品の場合に、日本企業が比較優位を持たない可能性があることを指摘する。

Franchise chains generally operate as the plural form with two distinct control mechanisms for the same function, characterized by the simultaneous presence of two different operational models, company-owned and franchised outlets. Then, store managers in franchised outlets have to rely on their owner for management resources, while relying their franchiser for the basic operational policy and other matters. Therefore, multiplex relationships exist in the decision-making process. Although we cannot ignore the role of store managers in integrating the goals of the multiple stakeholders in a franchise system, which must operate under a uniform image, to date, explanations of franchise systems have primarily focused on economic factors. Non-economic factors, especially cognitive aspects of store managers responsible for the operation of stores, have hardly been considered. In this study, we examine the store managers of a national franchise chain, and conduct an empirical examination of the integration of the goals of the actors (franchiser, owner, and store staffs) in relation to the effects of pro-active/passive aspects of store managers. The results showed that cognitive aspects of store managers contributed very little to the integration of the goals of these three actors, thus indicating that the store managers' attitudes regarding goal integration were neutral, rather than active or passive. In contrast, we found that the implementation of the management concepts presented by the franchiser contributed significantly to goal integration. Therefore, we discovered that the objective of goal integration can be achieved through management concepts. Additionally, we confirmed that goal integration is reinforced by the constant efforts of the franchise headquarters (president) to convey the management concept. Our findings clearly indicate that non-economic factors are important for facilitating long-term relationships between actors in franchise systems, and offer a new perspective on the stable management of franchise systems.
