This study, which was one of the research projects for educational support of visual art activities, aimed to clarify the structure of stumbling blocks in art education by analyzing the association between the awareness of negative impression caused by the experiences of their learning and drawing and, arts and crafts of students who learned at a training school for childminders. Participants (N=410) answered a questionnaire that was directly collected from them during their classes in July 2021. Survey items included grade, learning course, age, gender, the scale for "Self-evaluation of art-making" with 8 items and the scale for "Referring to other works" with 6 items from Okada and Ishiguro (2017), and the scale for "Awareness of negative impression of art-making" with 20 items from our pilot survey. The analysis of covariance structure helped identify the two models of the structure of stumbling blocks in each art activity: drawing and, arts and crafts. The models suggest that the factor "Self-evaluation of art-making" influences stumbling blocks more strongly, which can lead to negative awareness: "Unskilled drawing and, arts and crafts", as well as "Stress of being exposed by others", than "Reference to others". In addition, the other negative awareness "Basic sense of the body" associated with visual art activities can only be seen in arts and crafts.
