  • ―通学時ならびに体育授業時における実態―

      In consideration of the current practice where the omission of the use of the underwear has been generalized, an investigation of the real situation concerning the use of the underwear was perfomed with a view to finding out a healthy and hygienic wearing method. The investigation was performed with elementaly school children up to university school students using the same questionnair paper simultaneously investigating the real situation concerning the use of the underwear while giving them physical training.

      It was found from these results that the customarization of the use of an underwear at one's homes from infancy is most important, and when we give lessons of home management in school, it is important to give sufficient guidance about the role of the underwear. We should also guide them amply about the use of the underwear properly from the viewpoint of hygenics.

      An investigation has been made of measuring the swinging properties of flared skirts using a trially manufactred an apparatus for swinging a skirt.

      Rotational vibration at the angle of 60° were given on a dammy weared a skirt. The motion hemline of 12 types of flared skirt were catched by the camera and X-Y tracker, and drawed the locus by the X-Y recorder, and were compared with the swinging properties on the horizontal vibration at the previous paper.

      The results obtained are as follows :

      1. The locus of 60° rotational vibration are showed like a bow shape, and are larger than the horizontal vibration.

      2. The parts of convex at the skirt of short size of hemline are small swinged as same as the horizontal vibration.

      3. Swinging length of the rotational vibration are largely at the parts of convex at the skirt of short size of hemline, and that of the horizontal vibration are largely at the part of concave of one.

      4. The 60° rotational vibration is more suitable than the horizontal vibration for measuring the swinging properties of skirts.

      On close examination of the categorization using Rorel's index on Verveck's one from the measurements for clothes design 7268 Japanese adult women ranging from the age of 19 to 59, we have reached the conclusion that the latter is more appropriate.

      And according with Verveck's index, they were categorized into three types, -slim, middle and obesity and special attention was paid to the physical feature in relation to age for the first and third type. The summary report is as follows :

      1) There is not any significant relationship between body type and height. Slim type show slight decrease in their bust and hips as they get on in years. All the three types show increase in their waist and velly with the years.

      2) Increase in the circumference of the upper arms continues until in their thirties but little change can be found after that. The circumference of the lower limbs decreases with the advance in years.

      3) In contrast to a visible slender waist of the younger generation the old genaration tend to have no waist.

      4) Slim type show skinfold thickness mainly on the upper arms and obesity type show it mostly on the subscapular.
