The author has investigated the relation between the copper number and the beating degree and has obtained the following results :
1. The copper number of the beaten stuff is generally higher than that of the original pulp.
2. The velocity of the increase of the beating degree of the stuff does not depend on the initial copper number of the unbeaten pulp.
3. There is no definite relation between the beating degree and the copper number of the beaten stuff.
