The features observed here are analogous to those ascertained by Cellulose nitrate, i.e., a gellike “ Bodenkörper” is formed and the influence of the amount of “ Bodenkörper” is large so far as the hysteresis being quite small or does not occur, while, on the other hand, the insoluble parts maintain a non-sticky swollen structure and the influence of the amount of “ Bodenkörper” is slight when the hysteresis occurs.
But in the case of acetate the following facts are somewhat characteristic.
(1) In all cases the solubility increases with rise in temperature, though it may differ in degree according to the solute or the composition of solvents.
(2) Although some hysteresis is observed in a mixture containing hydrous alcohol as diluent, secondary acetate shows, in general, almost no hysteresis, while triacetate has always shown a remarkable hysteresis.
(3) Deviating from the general rules, being solved secondary acetate in benzene-acetone without hysteresis and forms a gellike “ Bodenkörper”, its solubility scarcely lessens with the increase of the amount of sample used.

Although the dissolving manners of various vinylic polymers had been studied scarcely any phenomenon, which would not be understood by the knowledge obtained in the experiment of cellulose derivatives, was found:
(1) There are two types of dissolving manner characterized by whether or not the hysteresis exists.
(2) Polystrene, polyvinylacetate, and polymethylmethacrylate belong to the no-hysteresis type except in the case of the lattter in acetone-alcohol-water, where a small but clear hysteresis is observed.
(3) Polyvinylchloride (and hydrochloric acid rubber) belong to the hysteresis type and always give rise to a remarkable hysteresis.
