There are two methods in the determination of the ripening degree of viscose, viz. ammonium chloride method and natrium chloride method. The author compared these two methods applying to viscose of various composition.
    1. Ammonium chloride method gives an error with a little variation of composition of viscose, especially with the variation of cellulore content. The method, however, gives an acculate value.
    2. Natrium chloride method gives also an error with variation of the composition, but it is not so remarkable as the former method. This method is suitable for factory use to obtain an aproximate value.
    3. 10-9.5 of ammonium chloride number corresponds to 4-3.5 of sodium chloride number for the viscose of 8% cellulose and 7% alkali.
    4. Natrium chloride method is suitable to compare ripening degree of viscose of various composition. If ammonium chloride method is applied for the purpose, the sample must be taken so as to contain an equal weights of cellulose.
