Generally from the course of corrosion-resistant FRP pipe has been developed as an alternative material of the corrosive metal pipe, combination with existing metal flange is required. Basically, by mating surfaces unified, common commercialization can be achieved. So, after standards of PCD/ hole diameter of the bolt, a flange inner and outer diameters are defined, from the specifications of unevenness of the flange contact surface, waterproof function, applied bolts/number, and the allowable pressure, product design is carried out.

In the first report, the design of optimal FRP flange was reported. In this second report, outcomes of optimum ASA150/300 FRP flange design development to apply compression molding method for under 400mm, and centrifugal molding method for more 400mm up to 3.5m are reported. Detailed research results are shown such that the cost is about half of the conventional product and the quality is about 2 times.

For the production of E-Glass for SMC, selection of sizing agents is extremely important. In this report, we introduce the production process of glass fiber for SMC and examined the cause of fluff that occurs in the process of manufacturing roving which becomes product. One of the causes was turned out to be heterogeneity of the sizing agent. Fluff generation mechanism is as follows; since the sizing agent for bundling does not spread uniformly, a blank portion is formed in the fiber, the fiber is bent at an acute angle, and the fiber filament is cut and fluff is generated.

We have succeeded to develop a technique enabling molecular level composite treatment by utilizing electrical characteristic of ion of the materials to form 3D micro-structure. It can be bind three-dimensionally and selectively cross points of continuous (fibriform) object of micrometer size with high-speed and low cost by condensing binder particles electrically only to the cross points of the fiber bundles. In this paper, electric field strength is analyzed around the cross point, and the optimum size (diameter) of the binder is shown to be the same as the fiber bundle diameter which is known empirically. Application fields of the proposed technique may be fiber process, and composite material process. We have presented here results applied to forming mat structure which is formed by resin binding between fiber bundles composed of short E-glass fibers. Especially we have succeeded to reduce amount of binder by applying surfactant to fiber to be expected to reduce 70-80 % of cost.

One method of preparing a sizing agent is Open Cooker Method, which cooks gelatinize with a lid-free container. In this study, we analyzed the elongation, film formation, ash etc. of four kinds of Japanese starch NBL-130, Starch G, NBL-505 and Starch 10, suitable for open cooker method, and compared with the imported starch product. From this study, there were no products with the same quality as NBL-130, Starch G, NBL-505, and Starch 10 among the inbred starch samples.

This research is a report on research results on the surface activity and coupling effect of the sizing agent used for sizing materials of glass fiber mats. It is turned out that the effect of using an olefin surfactant as a CSM convergence aid for producing the effect of minimizing the amount of vat binder necessary for CSM forming is that the necessary binder amount can be drastically reduced to a maximum of 1/5.

Emulsion mat binder is excellent in flexibility and impregnating property. The main material consists of an emulsified material selected from PVAc, EVA, PET, etc. In this paper, we have reported on verification test results of successful reduction of conventional PVAc-based binder requirement by about 1/3 for mat binder of acrylic emulsion forming mat with less addition amount.
