Recently, 3-dimensional (3D) displays have been in use in many fields. Head-mounted display (HMD) and remote monitoring applications have drawn attention to the need for more research on the use of 3D imagery. The U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine Operational Based Vision Assessment Laboratory has developed a set of computer-based, automated vision tests (OBVA-AVT). It was required to assess the stereoscopic vision of aircrews. We analyzed the data of the stereoscopic vision tests installed in OBVA-AVT and the data of the three-rods test carried out at the aviation physical examination. The results indicated that there was no clear correlation between the stereoscopic vision tests with OBVA-AVT and the three-rods test. It seems to reflect the different visual mechanisms among the stereoscopic vision tests. Further consideration would be required with respect to the utilization of the stereoscopic vision tests using 3D imagery.
